did you read anything i wrote prior to my friend an i bringing the mobs back on the gil farmers. obviously you didnt. 12 people outside my friend an i contacted the GM as it was happening. there was even shouts about taking pictures of them doing it. people on my server cheer us on. yeah we did the wrong thing by mpking. but we also did the honorable thing. we tried to save 1 pt, an punisish those who were in the wrong.

we took a stand for something that wasnt right. the party in no way could ever take on amemet. yet the sellers felt the need to mpk them. its my RL nature. i never let the person being the bully get the upper hand on anyone else. so im certainly not going to allow it around me ingame.

an FINAL FANTASY, an all its chars, images, an likeness are indeed copyrighted. IGE uses this to make money. thus S.E can seek legal actions against the company.

I'm not denying that what the farmers were doing was wrong and they should be banned for it but it doesn't change the fact that what you did was still a bannable offence. I've seen people in other games use the same reason and they too were banned for MPKing. It doesn't mean SE are in league with them.

Using the name Final Fantasy or images for it isn't illegal or every magazine, fan site, review site, etc would be breaking the law. At best all SE could ask IGE to do would be to remove images from their site. If you look there's actually ver little FFXI imagary on the IGE site. I only saw 1 image when I looked. Most other RMT site use similar artwork but nothing actually owned by SE.

didn't ige post about not monopolizing because tis not nice before Square-Enix deleted 800 players for "monopolzing" items and monsters

You know wouldnt it be dumb for IGE to do the DDoS attacks? After all playing the game while its online is how they make money. If its them attacking it, they are screwing themselves over..

It doesn't have to be IGE. But, I think its more than a coincident that these DDoS atacks started occurring right after those 800 accounts were banned. So, I think it was another group.

Yeah it doesnt have to be IGE, its just someone brought it up that it can be IGE..which of course absolutely made no sense to me.

there's no clear black and white ruling on trademark relating to domain ownership. there have been some verdicts going either way, depending on the specifics of each case. i would think that S-E would in in court on this though. maybe they haven't sent the cease-and-desist yet.

Ogaming is a portal site that looks pretty dead http://ffxi.ogaming.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6423 only a dozen forum posts in the past 2 weeks. my guess is someone at that company saw they had a dead URL and decided to make a little money on it by forwarding to IGE

i looked in web.archive.org and it's had a varied history:
Feb 02, 2001: "The domain name www.ffxi.com is for sale" (looks like they grabbed EVERY 4 letter domain though, not related to FFXI specifically)
Nov 28, 2001 forwards to "drunkgamers.com"
Mar 25, 2003 forwards to "killpoetry.org"
Feb 25, 2004 forwards to IGE.com

i assume S-E just never cared
