  • Fame Required For Gobbiebag Quests

    Hi.

I'm interested in doing one of the gobbiebag/moogle quests to get more slots in my inventory. (it's already overflowing with stuff as I speak/type) I already have 3 items for the first part, but I didn't realise until recently that you needed fame to be able to get this quest completed.
Now, I have already learnt ingame that you can give some items to the NPC near the sheep stall in Selbina to raise fame in Windy, Bastok, and Sandy. (this could take a while if I have to keep collecting items and creating lots of stacks until my fame is high enough, but I don't know how long for though, and also depends on if I can get enough gill to keep giving out the items)

Hmm..... since this quest starts in Jeuno, (I've already read through the quest and know the NPC to speak to) would I have to raise fame in Jeuno for this quest, and do I need it for the 3 main cities I mentioned above too?
If it's just required for Jeuno, then how do I raise my fame for that city? I.E. - which quests or missions do I have to do for it?

    Please help.

The quest in Selbina only raises fame for Bastok and Sandy, not Windy. To raise fame in Jeuno you can raise fame in the 3 nations with repeatable quests. You can also do the lights quest in Jeuno several times.

The selbina sheep quest gives Jeuno fame too, so just keep doing that over and over again. I don't know what level of fame you need for the gobbiebag quest, but I have level 3 and got it. The easiest way to do the sheep quest is buy the moss from the Jeuno AH. It's around 8-9k a stack on midgard, but you get back 7200g per stack you trade, so you're not having to spend that much gil.

Don't forget the other 2 items too. - Millioncorn, and La Theine Cabbages. I presume these are also required to raise fame in Jeuno. (and Bastok and Sandy too) Though please feel free to correct me if I have it slightly wrong.

You can do any of them... I just feel that the moss raises it the fastest since you only have to trade 1 at a time. the others take longer because you have to trade him multiple items to complete it once.

          Moss being 1-1
          Millicorn 3-1
          Cabbage 5-1

I like trading moss. It's easier to trade a single item than multiple items because you can make macro for it. helps a ton.

            /targetnpc
/item "moss" <t> <-- not sure how you fully spell "moss" but basicly you just stand infront of the NPC, macro, press enter, macro, press enter, repeat. you get the idea. If you have to trade more than 1 piece you'll have to go through the menu and no other choice.

              Hi again.

              Thanks for the help everyone.
Gosh! It's really quite simple to raise fame, just to get extra slots in your inventory isn't it?

I'm just wondering though, since there are (and if I'm remembering this correctly from memory) 3 parts to the gobbiebag quest.....
I presume you can do the same for all 3 parts, (just pass on the moss for every part) once you have the items to give the NPC in Jeuno. (goblin NPC)
              Is this correct?

Yup, that's how I did it. 5 stacks of moss got me enough fame to do gobbie 1 and 2, 2 more stacks got me level 4 fame in bastok for the teleport-dem quest. Once you get levle 3 or 4 fame in any city you can probably quest the rest of the fame, since you'll have a lot more quests to do.

Once you have Fame for the Gobbie bag quest then the goblin with ask for about 4 different items. Trade all 4 and he raises your inventory slots, the last Gobbie bag if I remember right is VI for a grand total of 60 inventory slots.

5 stacks hey? This evening I have just given the NPC in selbina 2 stacks of Moss, (2 stacks of 12, obviously, but roughly 2 lots of 5 in each stack. NPC needs 5 Moss) giving him a total of 20 Moss. I thought thsi might be enough to raise my fame. If not, then I can always go back and buy some more. (been buying it cheap from a vendor in Sandy rather than from an AH)

Secondly, you mentioned a Tele-port dem quest.
Could you explain what this is about please?
Things such as..... do you have to be a certain lvl or job to be bale to do this quest at all?

Since I'm a lvl 21 WHM, I just assume I would wait until I reach the appropriate lvl before I get these spells, then just buy them when I reach that lvl.
(looing in my game guide it says lvl 36. Quite a way to go for a lvl 21 WHM) I didn't know there was a quest for it.

Hmm.... so the gobbie will just lengthen the amount of inv slots right there on the spot/in front of him then? I thought you had to go back and speak to the moogle in your Mog House. Or maybe that's the other quest where you can get more slots for your Mog Safe.

The quest I mentioned is for a scroll of teleport-dem. You have to be whm 36+ to use it, along with the other 2 crag scrrol, and I think 38 for altep and yhoat. You can get them with any job at any level. I'd wait until lvl 25 for invisible, you'll need it for the holla quest. I was going to buy them until I looked at the prices. Holla is cheap (30k), but mea and dem are a lot more (100k+) so I'm questing them instead. I don't have enough windy fame for the mea quest yet, butt he holla and dem quests were very easy.

Check http://ffxi.allakhazam.com for the quests to get the scrolls.

The npc needs 5 cabbage... not moss. Moss you can trade 1 at a time.

Yeah, I HAD wondered if anyone noticed the slight mistake I made. I got up this morning thinking.....
"hang on a minute, what I said on the forums was wrong. My statement was about cabbages, not moss"
Sorry about that. It was a bit late in the evening when I typed it, so my being tired may have caused me to make that slight mistake.

I got the moss mixed up with the cabbages.

Anyhow, having said this.... I've been having a look through at somepage.com to see if it's possible to buy the moss from a vendor somewhere, but it doesn't really say, like it does for other items. Does this mean that my only option is to buy it from an AH? (apart from farming for it in...... I don't kow where)
