Help With Crag Crystals Please

Hi.

Quick Question.

How do I use the Crag Crystals please?
Someone in my ls, said that I do a "/shout" for them (after I have visisted a crag, and received it as a key Item) or some such, but what exactly happens after that? And why do I need to do a "/shout?"

If you have the crystals you can then be teleported to that crag by a whm.

Yhoat
Altep
Vahzl (sp)

top 3 are easy the other 3 are a bit harder...

If you just recently started then I suggest getting the top 3 as fast as possible

Dem - Konschtat Highlands
Holla- La Theine Plateau
Mea - Tahrongi Canyon

You dont use the Crag Crystals, but they allow a WHM to teleport you to that Crag.

For example:

If are in Sandoria and want to go to Windurst.
It is a very long walk or Chocobo Ride.

So if you have a Crag Crystal from Mea you can get a White Mage to teleport you there.

Usually you shout in a town you need one, and if one is able to, they will.

Also they usally charge 500gil for this, but that is normal

Hmm.... my character is a WHM. Would I be able to teleport myself somehow instead?

Being in Tahrongi Canyon, (just outside windurst) I picked up the Mea Crystal, (Key Item) but since I'm already "IN" Tahrongi Canyon, from what I am reading, it seems as though I would use Mea to Teleport to Tahrongi Canyon, but what is the point of that, when I am already at Tahrongi?
Wouldn't I somehow need another crystal (key Item) from somewhere else, to get to another crag, in a different place or city?

Gil isn't really too much of an issue for my character as she is quite rich, and well off, (around 40-45k or so) so I think I can manage that.

You can Teleport yourself, but you need to be level 36 to get the teleport spells.

And yes, you would need a crag from another area to teleport somewhere else, there in one near each of the 3 starting cities(plus 3 more, but they are not to worry about at your level)

Be sure to pick up the crag crystals for Tahrongi Canyon, Konschtat Highlands, and La Theine Plateau as soon as possible. It can be a pain sometimes for party members or tele-taxis if you're missing a crag like that.

Also be sure to pick up the Altepa Desert crystal once you're leveling in that area, as it can be a much better alternative to running through the Korroloka Tunnel to get to Kuzotz.

The Vahzl and Yhoator gate crystals are not necessary, except for later levels when you need to do a mission in the subsequent regions.

This is how it works.

When you touch the Telecrystal at the Crags of Holla, Mea or Dem (or at the telepoints in Yhoator Jungle, Eastern Altepa Desert or Xarcabard), you receive a key item 'Holla/Dem/Mea/Whatever Crystal'. This is a permanant item which means that if there is a WHM in your party that casts a Teleport spell, it will take you to the place you got the crystal from.

For example, you have the Mea Crystal and a WHM in your party casts Teleport-Mea. All members in the party that have a Mea Crystal will be teleported to the Crag of Mea (ie Tahrongi Canyon). If you don't have the crystal then you'll just be left standing there.

Teleport spells are WHM only and are available for use at the following levels:

Teleport-Holla Lv36
Teleport-Mea Lv36
Teleport-Dem Lv36
Teleport-Altep Lv38
Teleport-Yhoat Lv38
Teleport-Vahzl Lv42

The locations for the various telepoints (the place the teleport spell will take you) are:

Holla: Crag of Holla, La Theine Plateau
Dem: Crag of Dem, Konschtat Highlands
Mea: Crag of Mea, Tahrongi Canyon
Altep: Telepoint @ (G-6), Eastern Altepa Desert
Yhoat: Telepoint @ (F-9), Yhoator Jungle
Vahzl: Telepoint @ (H-8), Xarcabard

It also should be noted that you must be close to the person casting the teleport to get ported. If you are near the Auction house in windurst and the WHM is near the gate to East Saruta, you will not get teleported. It has an area effect like protectra.

Like others have said, once you get the key item from each crag or crystal, you can be ported there any time the rest of the game. If you dont have it, you cant be teleported there till you get it.

As for why you would want to teleport to mea if youre already in Tahrongi, well... you wouldnt. If you think about it all you are doing by getting the mea "key item" is allowing future teleports there. Its mostly a convenience factor. You can get to Mea, Holla, Dem from anywhere in the world just by casting a spell. Its so fast. All you need is to "touch" the crystal at each place first.
