  • Quartermaster Cheating

I've seen a lot of topics not only here but at other FFXI sites about poor leaders changing the treasury pool to quartermaster while others don't notice, especially for Rare/EX items.

Well sad to say, I saw this happen for myself today while in the Labrynth of Onzozo. My party and another party were in the torama area when Ose popped. The other party invited mine to join them in killing Ose and we agreed and allianced. At this point the treasury was set to casting lots. We killed Ose easily and it dropped the Assault Jerkin. Those who needed the jerkin began to cast lots on it. People from both parties lotted and the War/Nin in my party had the highest lot. Next thing we see, the item is distributed to the leader of the other party. My party was all JPN players who were very confused about what happened until it was pointed out that quartermaster mode had been activated. It got pretty quiet and then my party disbanded from the alliance, sad and angry.

Fact of the matter is, quartermaster mode is hardly used outside of BCNMs and events like what happened to my party today. Although SE surely intended for this option to be used with good intentions, more often than not it isn't used that way. Square should be made aware of this issue and hopefully maybe a solution can come of it. Be it that quartermaster mode is removed entirely from the game, or that the treasury distribution can not be changed on items once lots are already casted on them, or some other option that can lead to fewer upset players.

Please join me in sending emails to PlayOnline and Square-Enix asking them to look into this issue.

They should change it to where the lotting system can't be changed if there are items in the treasure pool.

They should change it to where if the leader changes the loot system mid party you can PK them.

yeah same thing happened to me.. only thing is the stupid leader of the pt i joined had switched it to quatermaster near the beginning of the fight. i asked him what was up, he gave me some bogus line. so then i told him to never fuck with a ninja, an i 2 hr'ed leaving the dumb drk to tank it.. an for those curious, they never had a chance.. they all died.

i do have to agree something does need to be done. like only being allowed to turn it on before or after a alliance/ pt session. until then i do the inviting, otherwise no dice..

This is why you have a blm in the pt. If someone changes it to quartermaster (something I always notice because its an ugly green dot...) you warp2 them. People might say its not right d2ing mid pt but I'd reply with its also not right changing to quartermaster mid pt. ;3

I had this happen twice. First time we all agreed we would lot on items and may the best person win. Mid fight I see quartermaster go up. I comment on it. Denial. Someone else confirms the person did turn it on. I urge them to change it. They say no. I'm the white mage (and they had a crappy rdm) and I disband. I go to a safe distance and watch 2 more people disband and join me. We tele and form a new party. Yes the rest died.

Second time I was a blm and just about the exact same thing happened with Ose. The quartermaster was a bard that wanted it for farming. >.< Several people msged me and told me to warp 2 him. I hesitated. I didn't know if I should or shouldn't. They tried to convince him to change it back but he said that we would be killing Ose every time he popped so everyone who wanted one could get one. Ya riiiiiiiight! I asked everyone in the party. Most said yes and 1 said do what you think is right. So I warped him and he disbanded the entire party. So of course immediately afterward Ose died and dropped the jerkin. The other party wouldn't invite us to lot either. It was just a total waste.

I don't know about getting rid of Quartermaster. I've seen it put to good use too and for those instances I would hate to see it go. But I do encourage people to watch for that dot and do something about it if need be.

I think, it'd work if they have a 'yes/no' window for every member if the leader wants to change the party distribution rule? Just like for raise? And even one member clicking 'No' would mean that the party will be set back to treasure pool. I know it'd be annoying in mid battle, as you might not have time to read it, but you'd know that quartermaster had been switched on, or else there wouldn't have been any window popping up.

Imo they should make it this way u can not change it well you or any of the party/alliance members are engaged with a mob and can not change it when items are in the pool that should fix it anuf that way only way it can be changed is before the fight begins so if they do that just disband and let them Die.

                    Agreed.

Only time I have ever used it is during Eco-warrior (f'in ecowarrior...). Some idiot kept lotting on bat fangs and rabbit meat, fire crystals and rock salt, so then the whole alliance starts to...ugh.

After warning them, I kicked on QM and distributed the loot to the survivors AFTER the event was over.
                    You know I'm right.

i remember the old looting system. it would send items to you even if you were full. thus causing alot of crystals to drop. now if your full it will just skip over you to the next pt memeber.. i think its time the quatermaster gets tweaked as well. i like monos idea of not being able to switch it after an item is in the pool, or the other idea, or the idea that it can only be turned on at the beginning.

I like this idea! Are you going to email them and suggest it Cali? I would like to email it also and back you up.

To every solution there is a downside. Yes a box popping up would be annoying but if it was in place people would be aware and do it before they engage the mob or do what they need to do. Then it wouldn't pop up in your face during battle. If it did then it was someone trying something fishy and you could put an end to it. I really like it!
