Has anyone explored Uleguerand Range enough to find where the npc or something to complete the map quest for there?

The quest is "Over the Hills and Far Away." I spent about meh, 3 hours there last night looking for something. All I found was that Orc NPC that wants 4 snoll arms and a ??? that didn't say much >_>

Cookie to the first person who can tell me where to go ; D

According to Mysterytour, you start it in Port San D'oria. Unfortunately, Mysterytour doesn't mention who gives the quest, and I haven't been able to figure it out on my own (not for lack of trying, though).

Here's a hint, the npc for the map quest IS in Port Sandy, but you first do something else in South Sandy in orde to receive the quest.

Still working on it myself, though I suspect you have to climb to the top, the slide down Thousand Fall Ridge to find what you're looking for.

i was digging through a jpn site with babelfish and found some info on this quest. The quest giver is in the port sandoria tavern and is named "Antreneau" You talk to him and eventually you need to go trigger the ??? in Ulegand Range for some reason or another.

I got this info from a babelfish translation so take it with a grain of salt.

          the original site is here:

          http://on2.fc2web.com/pmap/t4.htm

if anyone that can speak jpn can translate the quest, here is a link to the quest page:

          thanks.

Tevran - that's barely what I'd consider helpful. I've already run around Port San D'oria multiple times trying to run the guy down, and for all I know its not even a new NPC (the start NPC for the Attowa Chasm map is an NPC that's been around since long before the expansion, so I clearly can't just go looking for NPCs that weren't around before the expansion came out). And South San D'oria is even bigger than Port is.

I'm not asking for a walk through. Just a lousy start point.

heh sorry. I know some dont like things like this to be spoiled, so I tried to refrain from that.

The actual NPC, isn't new at all. He's the same one who gave the 5 pieces of Hare Meat quest.

The quest, Over the hills and far away, deals with his uncle, and his journey to Uleguerand Range. In South Sandy, I believe its G-7, don't hold me to that, I'm at work currently, there's a diary upstairs in a house. Reading it, then talking to the NPC will launch the quest.

Hope that helps some. I can't verify the exact <pos> until I get home. But it should help you get it going.

                  Quest giver

This requires having some good fame, I actually had to do roughly 42 some san quests plus countless fang repeats to get it activated.

South San d'Oria is a diary @ watchdog alley, the first house on your right, G7 I believe, top floor. After you examine and read the 4th page speak to Anthenau(sp) at Port San d'Oria, same guy who gives hare quest.

Now, as for the quest completetion.. I'm still trying to figure that out. Im going to buy about 3 stacks of silent oils and another stack of tonko:ichi (nin sub 12 lol) and try again.

Getting up the mountain isnt so hard, its just avoiding mobs with true sight that makes it diffcult.

Has anyone done "One Good Deed?" yet? I believe it yields the Attohwa Chasm map, but haven't had a chance to go to the island in Bibiki Bay yet.

                      Uleguerand Range Map Quest

You need to read the diary in a house in South Sandoria up to page 4. If you cant read up to page 4, you either dont have enough fame yet or havent done the quest thts in the series yet. After reading page 4, head to Port Sandoria and head into the pub to talk to some guy name Ant---- (sorry forgot the name).

After talking to the guy in the pub in Port Sandoria, you need to go to Movalpolis and kill a Moblin Ashman or something (I think that was the name). He is in K-10 of Oldton Movalpolis. This camp sucks because a lot of people will be there for the item, and its not 100% drop. The item you want is a Moblin Hotrok. I heard there was a mob in Newton Movalpolis that drops it too, but I forgot what it was.

Now head to Uleguerand Range. From there, if you check the map site in the above post, go in a counter clockwise direction. If you go left, it's just a dead end. To a level 75, everything is EP or higher. As you get deeper in, enemies start becoming dc, ep, and even toughs and IT's. New enemies called Brontotaurs (and its stronger cousins) are truesight. This means they see through invis. However, they dont detect sound, so you can just walk behind them. Still, caution is needed here because if it turns, thats your ass There are also Ice Bombs in this area. They aggro magic, so becareful when you cast your sneak/invis since they aggro magic.

At G-7, theres a ramp going up. At the top, make a right and follow it into a wide area. Keep heading south until you come to an area with 2 cliffs: one to the west, and one to the south. This will be around F-8/9. This is the tricky part. If you've seen the side of the cliff, theres a hole in it. You want to fall into that hole. A little trick I used was to line my marker up with the bottom of the large part of the banner (the No Map banner). You can try to slow your descent on the cliff by walking against it. Keep an eye out for the hole and try to land in it. If you miss, you basically have to go around again.

Now you follow the path (which is basically one way, the rest are dead ends). Just keep taking the path that leads upward and you'll make it to another hole. This is the hard fall, because you cant really see the ledge you want to fall on. The ledge that you want to fall on is a little to the right of the hole your looking out of. What I do is stand as far right of the hole as possible, walk off, and nudge my character right a notch or two. The ledge is very narrow, so you'll probably need a bit of luck to land on it. (Those that make it will know what I mean)

If you've made it on the ledge, the hard part is over. Just go into the cave, take the paths that lead up, and find the ??? spot. Trade your Moblin Hotrok to it and you get the map after a short cutscene.

                      Hope this helped Good luck!

                        Slightly Confused

                        Wild, incredible walkthrough, thank you.

But I have a question, your second to last paragraph confused me. Because after reaching the ledge, i did find a route into the caverns, it may be a glitch, or ir may just be a hidden hole that isnt on the map. Either way, its on the F9 area of the map, going down the slope and pushing to the left seemed to get me there, closer towards the middle of the slope itself.

Dropping down put me right on the head of a Mindgazer, sneak is prominent here, I didnt realize this first time, died Reaaal fast. I did find the ??? for the hotrok though, but thats after the drop I took.

My question-- is there one place for this, or multiple? I mean, the thing that confuses me is that for Attohwa Chasm you have to go into Boneyard Gully for a cutscene and map. But I figured the same would be here, reach Bearclaw pinnacle, get a cutscene and such.

Is the map actually found in the range itself?

Hmm, I'm not sure if there's more than one way or not to get to the spot. Since falling and missing wastes like 10-20 minutes of my time, I didnt really feel like experimenting I think if you land on the bottom ledge, you just have to walk upward to reach the spot, and if you land into that little cavern, you just have to walk downward.

This map isnt like Attohwa Chasm map; Bearclaw Pinnacle has nothing to do with it. When you have your Hotrok, you trade it to the ??? spot and you'll get a cutscene. After the cutscene, you'll get the map. I doubt there's more than one spot to turn it in though.

Yes. Bring a friend or two. There's a fight on Purgonorgo Island, and I died as a level 61 WHM trying to solo it. With a couple of friends, it was child's play. Due to the nature of the fight, I suspect a well balanced, 6 person, level 40 or so group would be able to finish the fight, but I'm not certain.

That's not the end of the mission, though, and there's a fairly spectacular cutscene later on.
