Power Level?

I've heard about power lvling and sinceim a lvl 13 and my friend is 5 can i power lvl him to 13.
How do I power lvl?

Generally you can only power level someone if you are a mage that can heal, and the other person is a melee who can do good damage, even against tougher mobs.

He attacks, you cure him, so he has no downtime between his fights. A War cannot powerlevel someone. There is nothing a WAR can do to assist the other person in their fight.

I am a 37 RDM, so I can easily PL my friends who are level 13-16. Although, you can't really powerlevel a WHM unless they are in a group, because WHM can't do any damage, and thus it would take forever to kill the mobs.

Power leveling doesn't exist.

A group of 6 well equipped and experienced players could out EXP somebody being power-leved and then some.

You really cant PL as a WAR, seeing how you cant heal, or attack the monster your friend is fighting.

You can PL that group of 6 well equipped members, jes heal the tank and stuff.

Power leving a group of 6 is not as easy as you might think. Curaga can not be cast on somebody who is not in your team so mass healing isn't possible.

I have a personal distaste for power-leveling as I think it undermines the original concept of the battle engine behind FFXI.

um... PL a group of 6 is fairly easy if your PT is not full of idiots (is yours?). With a tank that can hold a mob, and fighting mobs that don't have powerful aoe (most xping mobs), the PLer can easily focus on healing the tank.

With this setup:
PLD/WAR
NIN/WAR
THF/NIN
THF/NIN
WHM/BLM
RDM/WHM

we were PLed for 15000 xp in 2 hours in Garlaige Citadel. The whm did nothing, just sat there and /danced the whole time. The rdm debuffed/MB, and occasionally helped in the healing. So basically, we could have used just the 4 damage dealears/tanks and made even more xp.

And from levels 1-20ish, PL a smaller group of 2-3 people is definitely faster than a group of 6. If the PL is high enough level, it will get aggro and basically not get hurt at all by the mob.

one point to be made is that getting a charcter to lv 10 is pretty easy in a small amount of time . your friend could catch up to you if he had just a little help in the "knowlege" dep of where to get the easist Exp fastest

You could also help him with gil for best armor etc..

Anyways I had the pleasure of being in a great Party with assistance from an outside high lv wht that was helping his buddy the party leader. More than the Occasional cure, she gave the party great advice and when lower Lv people might have ignored other people's advice at the same LV they quickly took not of wht the Lv55wht was saying.

This is what I call Power De-N00bing helped me get past my first jobs lv 14-18 slump

I have friends at low levels all the time that I help with my higher Lv mnk/war I don't Power Lv them, but I help them find great exp spots and good parties .. Or I help them with Farming, Quest, Traveling from town to town .. Learning Macro's etc.

But yea Power Leveling in the common sense of the term is usually a wht mage helping a Melee kill something he normally wouldn't have the HP to kill ..

It is very easy for a mage to PL a PT. I'm too lazy to go all out and explain, but the mage garners all the hate from the mob, and absorbs all the hits. 'Works real well.

You have never been powere levelled by a brd/whm then :X

My lvl 13 warrior had higher ATT than my 30 samurai with two brd songs +2 hour :D

Pretty much it's form party-songs-disband-kill-reform when songs wear off.

i PL many friends low lv (when they lv up low lv job :sweat: )

i use drk/whm mp is 320~ +mp equipment

from lv 1 to lv 10 in 2~ hours not bad :sweat:

hehe... Pwrlvling either a pt or an individual is easy; all I had to do was to throw a cure IV on a player to draw mass hate, and the mob will focus on me throughout the fight, in other words, I became the tank for the party.

they can kill the mob faster
i remember taking on an IT gob by myself with a high lvl pld healing at lvl10, took about 15mins for the fight to end and i exhausted the guy's mp for a lousy 200xp

later on that day got lucky joining a pt that had someone power lvling them, xp was going so fast

I dont think it's bad. I personally detest PLing random people and also being asked/offered to be paid for PL, work for you own levels me thinks.

But I PL all my friends all the time. They've worked hard at their main characters, and if they want to catch up to another friend who happens to be a few levels ahead on sub job, fun job, 3rd main job lol whichever, I always jump at the opportunity to help them do it. Its reciprocated by my friends as well, whenever they level a new job and I'm behind, whether I like it or not, they will come and PL me lol just so we can PTY up faster.

PL, from a WHM standpoint is also a great way to max out my enhancing and healing magic. Since I PL so much, with each lvl that my whm gains, I'm still always maxed out without much difficulty.
