  • Switch Nations & Get the Ring

Did a search on this. Didnt find exactly what I was looking for.

OK, I have a specific question(s) about getting my starting ring.

So I started as a Hume in SanD. DoH!

Now I really, really, want to get one of the starting rings. Preferably SanD, cause I *ahem* dont care for Bastok.
I would however settle for a bastokian ring if I must.

I am Rank 3, I have a dumpload of conquest points in SanD and need to know what to do to get my ring.

    Questions
    1. As a hume can I ever get a SanD ring?
    2. Will I (Paladain) ever get a better ring than starting ring? What level.
    3. How does my fame affect the switching of nations?
    4. How does the switching of nations affect my fame?
    5. Can I switch back to a nation I previously abandoned?
    6. What is the square root of 64?
    7. How much will this cost me?
    8. Anything else I should consider?

I know it may not be important to other people, but I really want this ring.

    Thanks in advance.

To get your SD ring, you need to either wait for, or help your nation obtain rank 1 in the weekly conquest results. Then it will become availible from your nation's conquest NPCs with all the other CQ gear.

    As to your questions:
    1. As a hume can I ever get a SanD ring?
    Yes, see above.
    2. Will I (Paladain) ever get a better ring than starting ring? What level.
You may want to consider +2 VIT or +2 DEX rings. There have been many threads in the paladin forum on this very topic, I recommend seeking them out.
    3. How does my fame affect the switching of nations?
    It doesn't.
    4. How does the switching of nations affect my fame?
    It doesn't.
    5. Can I switch back to a nation I previously abandoned?
    Yep.
    6. What is the square root of 64?
    Eight.
    7. How much will this cost me?
It varies by the current conquest rank of the nation. If you're cheap, I think the 3rd place one costs you 10k.
    8. Anything else I should consider?
Waiting until you get Rank 5 and an Airpass before switching nations. Especially if your nation has good conquest gear for your preferred class.

        1. Yes, but sandy must be in first place.
        2. dunno
        3. doesn't
        4. doesn't
        5. yes, just cough up the cash again
        6. bleh
        7. what, to get ring? 3000 conquest points
        8. the starting ring is called "starting" for a reason. Just cause you switch nations does not mean you automatically get it. you have to work your way up to rank 3 again in the starting nation before you can buy it with conquest points.

        Thanks Yyg!

          1. Yes
          2. Yes. Level 14, +2 vit ring.
          3. Don't think it matters
          4. Don't think it matters
          5. Fairly sure this is a yes.
          6. Eight
          7. Depends on where San d'Oria is in conquest ranking. Costs more if they're higher. Sorry, thought you meant cost to switch nations! 3000 CP to buy starting ring
          8. Starting rings are just that. STARTING rings. For a melee, the +1 version of the level 14 rings (courage, balance, etc.) are superior to the starting rings. For a caster, the level 10 rings (eremite's, saintly) are better than windurst's starting ring.

The Sandy ring is almost useless to a paladin by the way. +1 str, +1 mnd. Even a normal L14 vit ring is better. The Bastokan ring offers dex+1 and vit+1, which is much better.

I don't see why anyone else than an elvaan would like to start in that POS Sandy anyway.

Huh. I always heard you needed to switch sides to get ring.

              THANKS!!!!

If know for a fact that switching from 1st place nation to 3rd place is 4000 gil. 3rd to 1st is 40000. I will not comment on in between as I've never checked.

Yes, 2 Def, +1 Str, +1 Mind is useless to a Job that needs help doing extra damage since it's primary weapon isn't as good as others, casts White Magic, and seeks to increase it's defense as much as possible. Totally worthless.

Granted the +2 Vit rings are pretty darn useful at 14, but I'd rather have the Starting San D ring up until the +2 Stat bonuses than a single increase in a stat.

'Cause on most servers San d'Orian seems to be the dominant force as far as Conquest goes?

the cost to "immigrate" soley depends on the conquest standing of the nation u r immigrating TO. thus, the standing of ur CURRENT nation won't be considered.

                    the cost is as follows;

                    1st - 40,000 gils
                    2nd - 12,000 gils
                    3rd - 4,000 gils
