Alternate Leveling Locations

I think that alot of us would agree that the level grind is among the most if not THE most frusterating and boring thing in the game.

I think one cure for the leveling blues is to mix it up a little. So many people follow the old guide locations you know the one-

Valkrum
Qufim
Kazham
Garliage
Crawlers

Rinse repeat...shoot yourself in the face:p


These places are just horrible. They are way too overcrowded, trains are just insane, everyone goes there so there is a good share of jerks. And it is just plain boring to stay in one spot for weeks and weeks.

So for a little change in scenery and in hopes of dispersing the crowd and thus making this game so much more fun for everyone I think we should list some alternatives to the status quo of leveling locations.

Here is my list. PLEASE PLEASE feel free to add yours. I am always willing to try new places.

20-25 Saramouge Champagne in the beetle cove
31-25 Easter Altepa Desert beetles, and later on Dalhmels
41-45 Western Altepa Desert - beetles
45-48 Quicksand Caves - guess what....beetles lol

See my list so far stinks. Help me out here guys. Any other locations that you have tried and liked? Don't worry about over crowding it most people will still stick to the Valkrum - Qufim - Kazham - Garliage- Crawlers- Cancel their subscription path.

Ohhh there is a lot of places to xp not jsut htese "famous" ones.When im camping Valkurm Emperor i always get a tell to party in Gustav Tunnel(around levle 40 there) and its pretty good.You go where ur party wants ^^

14-20: worms in Korroloka Tunnel (best exp you will get for a long while if no one is partying there). Played once during japanese prime time, too many people.

30-33: evil weapons in Sauromugue Champaign (pull to the beetle area)

30-35: Iron shell, Ghast, in Sea Serpent Grotto (fight near norg)

38-40: Eldieme Necropolis never fought there. But i heard monks go there instead of crawlers.

10-13: Gusgen, skeleton warriors

so nice lvling in an area with a sufficient supply of pulls...

after grinding away in CN from 36-46 alteppa is a great bit more enjoyable

28-32 in Davoi, good for making gil too.

Korroloka Tunnels can go beyond 20 pulling bats for a bit, then Spiders, then Crabs then Pugils. Be a little slow at the end, but theoretically you can go up to 27 before htey drop down to just Even matches.

Batallia Downs is something most people forget from 24-28 or so on Goblins, Tigers, and then Orcs.

East Altepa Desert starts to be good around 26 on Spiders and then Antica

Nice hidden secret is if you can find the right entrance, Elieme Necropolis is great from 32-34 or so just on Gazers. Bring a Rdm with dispel or Brd with Magic Finale though.

There are a few to get you up to 34 or 35 or so.

Does anyone know at which level EXP breaks in Gustav Tunnel? I think it's around 44 or 45, but I'm not sure.

These places are most crowded because: They are easy to get to. Look especially at the last 4. All one zone off of Jeuno . Also, the mobs that you have to fight are some of the "easiest" that you can.

Sprouts (mandragoras), Crabs, Crawlers, Bats (besides Jet Stream, they have low low HP) and beetles.

The Necropolis is an option, but you won't see many jobs want to go there... PLD sword dmg goes down (the intimidation is nice though), RNG hit bones for a lot less, so do DRKs, etc etc. And Undead use nasty AoEs and status effects like Disease. Not a pleasant place to go.

There isn't much risk involved in many of these areas. Qufim, you can zone into the tower; Yuhtunga, zone into Kazham; Garliage, everyone fights in that first L-shaped corridor; Crawlers, well there is a little danger there, but your BLM can always escape out.

However, if you are willing to take a chance and have a camp not near a zoneline, many of these places work out great. There are "safe camps" in Yuhtunga, Garliage and Crawlers where most pullers won't want to go to for pulls. Go there if your PT is good.

With my PLD, I more or less leveled in the standard places... except I did the Sauro Beetles, Sea Serpents Grotto, and gained 2.5 levels in my high 40s getting Genkai I items.
