i love when the taru all are together and casting a spell and reign down magic from the sky and all the monsters start running. and taru let out that the cheers. always brings a smile to my face.

also after watching this video i hate orcs and beastmen more then ever... i just go slaughtering them and its so satifying...

i will destroy every orc and beastmen in vana diel if its the last thing i do...

    Ironheart will be proud.
Wierd, I didn't think the tarutaru were cheering

the beastmen were still running foreward though, those glaciers falling on them didn't discourage them. And I took their gasps as "it's hopeless!" because behemoths and war machines started to lumber into view.
it makes more sense that way, the humes/galka/mithra/elvaan were getting whooped, the taru taru weren't doing any better

Anyways, i sort of always thought it was Sauromaige Campaign (Spelling), because of all the ruined buildings and what not. Hmm i havent done any whm af quests yet (far from it) so i'm looking forward to learning about this lost city.
That was an elvaan fortress that the taru taru destoryed when Sandoria was at war with Windurst.

The into movie also has armor that noone wears. Only in alpha's of FFXI do you see armor that european looking, so the city could have been important at one point, but now it's 'just' part of the background.

My guess is that the movie was made before the game was in full production as a teaser, and the two just didnt meet creatively. Kinda like the intro movie to NWN. Minotaurs are pretty low level, but the main character was using weapons that looked a little high level for such a low level kill.

If I were to guess a location, geographically, currently there is not a region, that resembles where that city is. Perhaps there are plans for more above ground regions.

A Marquisate is an area of land, yes. Barons rule Baronies, Counts rule Counties, Marquises rule Marquisates, Earls rule Earldoms, Dukes rule Duchies, and Kings rule Kingdoms. Of course, this still begs the question of what that city is named, since all we know is that it was a Tavnazian city.

Any of you folks who've done the Zilart missions or teleported out to meet Kirin and Friends have any idea? Does Aldo ever say?

Its hard to distinguish clearly, but whatever it is that the Tarus cry out has three syllables, and I always heard it as being a squeeky, muffled "Behemoth!"... I can see why they'd yell this in a panic at this moment, as its just after the Behemoths emerge from the enemy ranks into view.

The geography is wrong for it to be the Garliage Citadel in Sauroumogue Champaigne. I've walked through it many times, as many people do, and there are no trees, and no rock formation like that one, and the elevation changes are wrong.

I think the idea that its Tavnazia is the best one I've heard. Good call.

(btw, its not Baronies, its Baronettes)

I hear it as more of a "Holy f@#& we're f$*@ing screwed. Lets get the f*#$ out of here before he kicks the s%(* out of us."

I know I am probably wrong, but I thought they were cheering too. I dunno, guess they just always look happy to me. I want one for a pet. That and a magwai

Also, at the end of the movie, whatever city that was that Alto (or Aldo) ran from was rebuilt.

Do you think that the city is rebuilt now, or showing Alto sizing it up from afar was supposed to be in the future?

Truthfully, I thought it was San D'Oria. But then again I thought the Tarus were cheering.
Meh, no time for a signature.

                    The opening city

The city is Tavniasia, if you do the samurai AF quests you learn more about it, Gilgamesh from norg is from there. As they fled the city they landed on the western shores of the Valkrum Dunes, so im lead to believe the city is far to the east or north of Kuzotz. It is defintally not part of Sandoria. Also most of the flavor text including "from a land far to the east" is probably referring to that city and not just norg, possibly the far east of the Sanctuary of Zitah, a zone not accessable yet.

dont u think its a little big for an outpost :S and with soldiers? there was children! lol.

Yeah I think that the taru tarus are cheering because the music takes a turn at that point as if there is hope. The music made you think that they were cheering ^^ either you're supposed to think it or they did the soundtrack badly (which i very much doubt).

The place in the intro I think is jeuno. Jeuno was built on the ruins of a city and its where all the kingdoms gathered (just like you said). The only other area I think looked similar was in ghelsba outpost (i think thats how u spell it) but without all the orc contraptions. There's a lot of hills there too. It just seems like the sort of place you'd see it but I've seen no ruined bridges yet ^^ Also there was a cave and theres lots of caves there.

                      Anyway, there's my 2 gil.

Go make a new character...go to Windurst...says it was destroyed 20 years ago. Might not look like Windurst, but that could be a decent guess with some evidence.

Well, for the geography, a lot of land can change in 20 years, so that won't really help muhc in this arguement.
