  • How long would it take to walk from...

San D'oria to Bastok? I mean my question is how long in the game would it take to walk from the city of San D'oria to the city of Bastok? Because i was just looking at the map that Ping did a great job on and im trying to find out how big this world is.. because it doesnt look like theres many towns but there probably is... so if anyone plays it on the Japanes server, could you give me an estimate on how long it would take to walk from San D'oria to Bastok, thanks in advance.

If you know the way... I'd say around 15-20 minutes walking.

Well i walked from Bastok to San d'Oria the other day and it took me about 45 min. But that was because i was going alone and that was the first time i made the trip. It would have taken longer if i didnt run into Nich in Valkurm who led me the rest of the way.
But yeah, if you know the way about 15 to 20 min. (thats without fighting stuff on the way)

Wow the world of FFXI must be pretty small then.. because it would take forever to walk from one side to the other on EQ (PC version)... i may be misunderstood on the size of FFXI but it sounds really small.

Actually i was expecting it to be bigger. I was surprised by how fast i made it to SD and even more surprised at how fast i made it from SD to Bastok. But to get from SD to Winhurst it takes about 35 to 40 min. knowing the way, buts that only because of the 15 min. boat ride. (I'm pretty sure its 15 min. wasnt really paying attention to the time)

I thought FFXI was supposed to have the biggest world ever seen inside a video game. but i really just cant imagine it being bigger than ay of Operation Flashpoints maps, if any1 has a referense of this games maps, will u let me know if FFXI's are bigger?

I actually thought it would take you like 10 hours to get from one city to another (kind of a relief tho)

Believe me, it take enough time to walk from one city to the other. When you make the trip for the first time it is fun and you kind of wish it would of taken longer but the second time through, its kind of redundant, not so much where you dread taking trips. Thats probably why they have Chocabos by lv. 20 because by the time you get to that level you probably hate walking.
But all in all, i think Vana'diel is just the right size.

the disadvantange or walking with big city..... when you do a quest, like one of selbina quest need to touch the stone with something). you need to get an item from quest giver and go to a location then back to selbina, then again get the item and go to another location(total is about 10-15). and this is very bad to me...
                  ?

Thats how you get to the 3 major citys from one-another (excluding jueno). Selbina and Mhaura are both small towns. Ya.. its a cake walk. /sarcasim
