  • Weapon with an Additional Effect?

I purchased a new weapon last night that had an Additional Effect of Wind. How does this work?

I thought that this would just do an additional amount of damage on every attack that was wind based like I have seen others do in combat. This does not seem to be the case. I attack and I do damage like normal with no additional damage.

the additional property does exist....but it only works at a percentage rate

i've noticed that it works more often when you fight easy preys than if you go fight incredibly toughs...

It's random. The person that you see hit for additional damage all the time is probably a red mage who use buff on himself.

Ahh. So this works the same way just happens every now and then not every fight.. Thats kinda lame since this weapon was bling bling...

I would imagine that the chance to proc (do additional damage) has to do with the mob's resistance to the element you are proc'ing also. For example, an axe that procs lightning will be a lot better than an axe that procs fire against a quadav.

Basically you get a roll for the standard dmg, a roll for the chance to proc and a modifier for the mobs resitance/weakness to the element.

Actually, it will be the same for every monsters. Even monsters that are strong against your proc element. Just that you will do 0 damage if they resist it.

mob's resistance to the element matters, but not in that way. if the mob is resitant to the element that the weapon u r attacking w/ has additional damage of, that damage will be lower than usual, or completely resisted by being 0. u can test this by attacking the ~ Elemental of the same element; u'll see zero damage even if the additional damage comes up.

I bought a fire sword and tried it out last night as soon as I reached 18; got same results as the original poster - normal damage, no modifiers seen yet...I was expecting the sword to behave like my former one did with enthunder - every hit shows the additional damage modifier, although sometimes the additional damage is 0. Very disappointed with this fire sword so far...

I'm taking a guess on this but I have noticed many of similar weapon types having additional damage elements of the same element. The big difference between then is the level each one is.

If the design is anything similar to their previous games then a low level weapon that does additional element damage is quite worthless. The additional element damage won't really become any good till you get a lv. weapon around possibly the 40's, then you should see it work more often and be a more wanted amount of damage from it.

At low levels weapons that give additional effects, probably the ones that'll work better and more often are ones that debuff the enemy. So blind, silence, bind, poison, paralyze, slow, etc... those type of additional effects you'll get more often from low level weapons..
