Advance job problem

Hi to all guys!^^
I have a little problem chosing my advanced job: I'm BLM level 24 now and when i reach level 30 I thought to be a PLD; but someone tell me that a PLD/BLM isn't good, because PLD have high defense, so a PLD have to take a lot of damage by enemy using Taunt ability. This is the problem.....only WAR have Taunt. Also if I want to be a DRK is a problem, infact DRK/BLM seems stupid because DRK just have BLM spells.
So what to do?
It's possible that BLM is not usefull for any advanced job????
Possible that I lost time raising my BLM? I can only do BLM/WHM?

one good thing in FF is that all jobs has it:s merit.

for most melee classes it:s good to have taunt ability except for thieves, rangers (although in some situations leader still prefer to have warrior sub). of course, paladin with warrior sub is the best since they're builded to take the damages.

only job i can think of that could really use blackmage sub is either redmage or whitemage, most common wanted anyway.
so if you're planning to play paladin or drk, better to train up warrior as well.

and later on when you're doing quests, money run. you can always sub the "already trained" blackmage and dezone back to HP.

What Race are you?

Seymoure went from BLM/WHM -> DRK/WAR at level 30, I believe.
