I for one, agree with Seymour's initial post that having a one large LS encompassing ALL importers, while having separate smaller ones for "private" gatherings, is a good idea.

This game, more than any other game out there, relies on and requires group effort. Having more people to play with and exchange information is certainly a good thing.

And Seymour, don't worrty about Sheila and Kirie's remarks. They are just always full of hatred & sarcasm, making offensive, biting remarks everytime they see something "stupid" to their eyes - they have serious personality issues, and MAJOR ego problem.

I think creating a one big LS for all importers (except Sheila and Kirie) would be a welcome addition to our life in Ragnarok.

Although lots of people have made good points about why it wouldn't work, I still think it's worth a try. I'm sure many people would really appreciate one large LS where everyone can go when they're lonely, or just stay there all the time. Since most LS are closed to new members (making it impossible to turn an existing one into the new all-encompassing LS), I propose that a new LS is created. I know that lots of people created their own LS, mainly because everyone wants to be a leader. Therefore, the leader of every current importer LS should be given a sack for the new LS. Everyone will be welcome, including Anavrin and Kirie :angel: Also, there should be some rules to follow so that it can be a nice place for everyone (rules that everyone can agree on, such as no horrible profanity or racial slurs since lots of people are of different ethnicity). I really don't care who creates the new LS, but I wouldn't mind doing it myself. The name is open to debate, and the rules can be thought of and posted. Once again, this new LS is for everyone who WANTS to join for any reason. Therefore, even though many people don't think it will work, please don't continue to say so here. You don't have to join if you don't want to.

I'll be on FFXI at about 4:30 EST today, and will be talking with people to see what they think. Please feel free to post your comments on this idea here, as well. Hopefully we can get something started in the next day or two.

BTW, one name I had in mind for the LS (seriously, very open to debate haha) is "Band of the Hawk". It's the name of the mercenary group in the anime "Berserk" (one of my favorites). The Band of the Hawk is a group of mercenaries who are like one big family in the series. (If you've seen the series, disregard what happens at the end :sweat: )

well, didn't we have that already? If I'm not mistaken, the original AG was an all importer LS...except me, Kirie, and Sheila, at least for a short while. It all ends up in big gay drama. Not belonging to a LS was possibly the best decision I ever made. I would be more than happy to play with any of you, really, but, tell works just as well. (and since everyone seems to have to ask me when they see me, my LS is only for fashion purposes, because I'm a big queen.)

Well, Gatts, with all due respect, the name of the LS will have to be something that EVERYONE can identify with - i.e. something relating to importer community. It should be very generic. (similar to Alien Gundan, a predecessor to Neo Gundan - which meant "Group of Foreginers" - we actually tried to make it Gaijin Gundan first, but Square had banned the word "Gaijin" from LS name).

Otherwise, as some others mentioned already, a creation of another LS for this will result in just that - another LS to compete with dozens of other LS already out there.

Also, to really have a legitimacy, I think Ping or any of the respected moderators should sanction this LS officially and make an announcement for it.

This would allow every importer, no matter which LS they belong to, to know that there exists an official importer LS where they can go to, when they get bored fo their own private LS.

People will just have to set aside their personal bias while there - but that is how real life is, no~?

And I still remember that event very clearly - I was at Buburimu, training my lv20 or so PLD - and Sheila and Kirie came in to announce that they were leaving the LS too with you - and how kind Sheila was back then lol. She said something like "I am truly sorry - I was hoping we could all get along, but." or something to that effect, very polite. :angel:

well, since i am utterly bored at work - and just to see if this idea can actually take off,

how about PING (you reading this?!) make an offical thread to annouce this, and use the VOTE feature to let everyone vote for the name and color of the official ffxionline.com/importer LS?

Ping can choose, say, five generic names, and five colors, and let everyone vote for it. The only caveat would have to be that the name be something hopefully generic and that identifies importers, (I don't know. "Globe" maybe? :spin: ), or just have something that sounds cool, and let all of us vote for it.

(and the current moderators can be sackholders).

I am positive that most importers will want a pearl for it - and I think having 30, 40, 50 users online at any given time will certainly have its appeal.

If you really want to have a big LS, and if you are willing to start over, head over to Ramuh for the IronMadienTroopers LS. They have at least 14 people on at all times. They are also very friendly. I admit I was never in NG even, or had any knowledge of what was going on. I started about 2 weeks before the break up of NG. But like I said, if you are willing to start over, IMTs is a great LS.

I do kind of miss the NG days, but there was so much I hated about it.

I think most people have already found their place to be. I don't really want to be in a place again with so many people I don't know, talking about things I don't care about; so much so that I had to take off the LS regularly just to keep from getting spammed. I talk to most of my friends by tell anyway. Even when we were on the same LS, tell was the norm. It's hard to carry out a conversation with so many people talking, and talking about things over a public LS isn't always something you want to do.

I'm not sure who said it, but people who want to be together will. It doesn't have to be forced or organized. You also don't need a LS to talk to someone.

So I guess you have to ask yourself what you want out of a LS. I hang around EviL because people I like are there. I'm there even when it's just me hoping that someone will sign on eventually. Hopping LS' to find the biggest person count, I just don't see the point in that. So what if there are a lot of people. What does it mean if you don't really know anyone.

I don't think you'll be happy in the game if you have other motives than just getting some friends. Like just popping into a LS for 2 minutes to ask for help with Exoray item. You didn't even wait to see my response before you hopped to another LS :sweat: I think if you take the community approach instead of searching for people that can help you, you might find more joy in the game.

Finally, let's not forget that NG didn't die. It was just renamed to RedLotus :sweat:

Some cope well (most people), other don't...
you shouldn't just quit something you've put this much time into, just because you lack the ability to forge relationships without the help of a 'linkshell' button in a menu...

There was lots to love/hate about NG, but I, for one, am glad it's gone and I have the ability to have even better relationships with a more concentrated population (Inertiatic Thugz where U at?)...

in addition, I think many would agree with me that placing a big "Gaijin" stamp across our foreheads would not only result in many of the same turmoil and conflict that went down in the latter days of NG, but would be a detractor to the population in which we are guests (kind of like an American tourist with the red, white, and blue outfit)...it's just not sound policy.

also, I do not wish to be a part of a community which by name excludes others, due to their well-verse and explained dissension in the matter. Exclusion due to conduct is a different thing, but saying "So-and-so..." isn't welcome makes it childish...
