NM's And Botting.. Rant.

(I just want to say before i post this that I do not hate Japanese players in any way. Ive met some very nice players and have made many friends.)

Allright, this is gonna probably make me sound whiny, etc. But im getting so sick of Japanese ( And NA ) Botters. But i can deal with that. Ive been camping Mee Deggi For the past 5 days. See the same people in there every night and day. And im getting SO sick of the earlier JP pop time. It ALWAYS get me. It is soo not right. Ive killed Mee about 10 times now, and im 0/10, Only reason im there is to get the kote's for my nin. I will kill almost every place holder , ive gotten quite quick with mashing provoke macro.


But right when the NM spawns, a JP PLD ( who is always there ) grabs the claim, he may be scripting but he has the spawn before i even see it. But he only goes after the NM, which makes me think that he using a sort of script to recognize that NM only or something.


IMO, i just think they should do something so that JP's dont have such an advantage.. And i know im gonna take heat for this from JP's. /sigh

There are a few bots on Rag that do the same, a few I know with Mee Deggi. Kill all the place holders and 4 JP players will come and only voke him, even if there is another yag in front of them. A Chinese friend that camps him say they use bots that only voke mobs that start with "Mee" or something like that.

And I'm getting sick of NA mentality that "if you can't win, the other person must be cheating!" Particularly this "botting" term. I've been called a "bot" before. "It spawned purple!" they say. "Damn jap bots."

No jackass, I'm not JP or a bot. I don't really even know that there is such a thing as a "program" or "script" that does this. I think a lot of NA's fail to realize the majority of JP gamers don't even use the PC version. You can't just go on yahoo and download a program for your PS2 that provokes only Mee Deggi. If you could, it would be widely available, and promptly defeated by Square. If anyone has such a capability, it's due to their own (high level) knowledge of networking and hacking that they're able to make their own devices to do such means, and they're not about to share it with other people. Be assured such a person has much better things to do than take your low level NMs for the crap gil they're worth.

The most likely explanation for your woes is that either you're using the PC version like 99% of NA's, you have a bad internet connection, you're pounding on your keyboard instead of using a turbo controller, or any combination of the 3. Stop blaming other people for your failure.

Well, it could be botters, JP or NA. I've hunted the LL before. I remember seeing a RDM in AF hutning him too. The weird thing is that he didn't move. Then all of a sudden the LL popped. It popped Purple, the bot didn't move, the LL came attacked it and then the RDM drew his weapon. After killing it, he didn't move. The question is, how was it claimed, I saw no animation for magic or Provoke. WTF????

if you do the research... you'll find there ARE bots specifically programmed to do that, so calm down a bit and look them up -_-

Most of the time when something spawns purple, it's because the japanese have claimed it, that's because there's lag because of the difference in distance of the servers. BUT, there is always an aimataion that shows the bot being claimed. When the LL popped, there was no kind of animation from the RDM, I'm talking no ranged attacks, no magic, no provoke, he stood still. That's why I call him a botter. Not because I didn't win and expected he was cheating. It's because he obviously used a bot.

You may have had filters on, either chat or battle effect filters, been too far out of the radius to see how he pulled it, etc. Also lag can prevent the server from sending many things to you, just the results. For instance, one time in Behemoth's Dominion I suddenly died for no reason. Turns out I got hit by meteor while lagged. People in my LS saw it but I didn't. Go figure.

Okay, well with that aside. I came back two hours later and he was in the same place, facing the same direction. He had to be a botter. I'm not sure if he was JP or NA, but I don't care, they were using an NM bot.

To my knowledge only Mee Deggi and Argus are bot-camped. This is because of several reasons that relate to both NM. I've never seen any other NM that I suspected I was competing with bots.

1) They spawn in a small and predictable area.
2) They both have items that sell for a respecable ammount.
3) Besides placeholders, no other mobs interfere with targeting.

These things combined make them bot-camped. Realistically though, most of the suspected bots I've seen and gone up against weren't that great. I managed to voke Deggi 6 times in a row one day against what I'm sure was a bot (wether it was or not I can't really say).

I've also camped enough NM/HNM to know that the latency issue is blown WAY out of proportion. I live in Canada and I've been able to Provoke mobs the split second they appear. There are very simple techniques that lead to quick pulls once you learn them, and they use no outside game help. They simply use good Macros, and use of Ability Menus. Next time you are camping something, have your Job Ability menu open, with the cursor over Provoke. Hit 'confirm' (enter key) twice quickly.....you will automatically target the first yellow enemy in sight and instantly Provoke it (even before the mob fully appears). Smart use of your radar is key as well. Mobs show up on radar before they appear in front of you.

Most people who complain about "botting" just didn't know enough about how/where/when the NM spawned, and didn't know the fastest ways to claim them.

However you would have to be pretty dumb to think that Mee Deggi and Argus are NOT bot-camped if you have seen their areas recently.....

Aparently me, I dont call Jp's "Japs" ><, im just stating a fact. There are scripts out there that only voke the NM. Im not gonna name any names, but when i kill all the placeholders and the NM pops, and he vokes. Thats not coincidence. Not twice in a row. Square needs to do something. And GM's aparently dont care either.
