  • First Dynamis attempt on Ragnarok and got Relic drops!

(Currently uploading the pics right now. That’s why you see D1, D2, ect.) Uploading pics here atm: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/sho...398#post315398

A few other importers including myself got the opportunity to do the first Dynamis on Ragnarok. These others include Evilkitty, Awntawn, Blizzy, and Roaddog. To break things down the only preps were to transport to Xarcarb <sp? And get the cutscene (must be level 64+), then touch the trial markings in RuLude Gardens near the mog house. Awntawn told me to do that and said meet in Bastok at so-in-so.

We got 3 alliances worth of people. They were all 100% full and included some big names like Selfina. We all met up in Bastok mines. It took about 2-3 hours to organize and getting all the people here. You should have seen the faces of some of those noobs running around in Bastok who haven’t been out of the gustaburg region yet. lol

There were so many bodies that they wouldn’t all load like you normally see in Jeuno. It was about 55 people. We had to get that Timeless Hour glass and it appears that it’s sold at a NPC for 1 million gil. What we did was 1 person paid for it then we all pitched in and paid that person 20k so it all adds up to a million if you got 50+ people. Here’s me standing in line waiting to pay the person:

After we all paid 20k we all went to Dangruf Wadi <sp? And I have no clue why. We all went on a chocobo and decided to head there.

We all met up in this room. Some people thought it was a new place but I remember going to this place when I did my THF AF2. It’s one of those weird rooms you see in places like Crawlers Nest which are hidden behind the walls. I’m like “oh, so that’s what these are for” but I guess not.

We all beefed up and then realized that this wasn’t the place we had to be. It took us about an hour to figure it out. Anyway we all headed back to Bastok by dezoning/escaping and walking back.

We checked out the trial markings in Bastok. We knew this was the place. The main hour glass was broken and then divided among all the people. The main leader just put a bunch in his Bazaar for 1 gil and that’s how everyone got there and then we entered.

I was one of the last few people to enter. The only thing I noticed right away was a little cutscene and the music you hear before you kill the Shadowlord in M12. When I zoned in I just saw this:

It was pretty much self explanatory. Go around and start killing shit!:

95% of the drops were just these types of bills. I didn’t know the value of them and I haven’t checked the AH yet for them but I guess they’re going for 100k+ for the next few days while everything is brand new.

Then we started to get Relic drops! Here were some DRG Relic pants:

The sad thing is Selfina rolled highest on the pants but got stuck in someone’s transport field when shit started to go wrong and they got passed to a DRK I think From this pic you can tell things were going wrong:

Everyone started to die cause there were just too many for 3 alliances of people to handle. We didn’t know what was going on but we all started to drop like flies pretty fast:

We all raised up and decided to try again since we had like 40 minutes left until the timer ran out.

And this is what happened our second round of killing….

We decided to raise up yet again since we had about 10 minutes left this time. We got some RDM Artifact gloves but sadly it was about 30 seconds before the timer ran out and everyone didn’t pass/roll on them so they were lost forever when we all zoned out.

    The end:

Few things I noticed. This may not be 100% true facts but it’s what I realized when I went in. There are “summoning” type beastmen. I believe when you kill 1 quad he will summon one. If you kill 2 another one will summon 2. If you kill 10 another one will summon 10. We found 1 summoning quad all by himself and it ending up producing 30+ more which rapped us on our second round. We never even got past the AH from Bastok Mines and we started at the mog. It was kinda an unsuccessful alliance considering you’re supposed to go all over the place and kill some “final boss” at one of the places.

I didn’t get 1 item and lost about 2000 exp and 20k gil but it was a fun experience. I woke up this morning and saw an emergency maint. For the dynamis areas. Guess they seriously need to fix them cause we just got PWNED when we went.

    Few other things:
-There was so much lag the bodies wouldn’t move for like a whole 20 seconds (probably cause I’m in a 56k lol)
-The quads are probably totetote+ to a level 75 PT. They aren’t easy but they aren’t hard at all if you can surround them individually.
-There are job type beastmen that drop the AF according to what job they are.

    My comments:
HAVE FUN GETTING YOUR AF2 CAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY. There will be non stop shouts but you’ll be paying about 20k a pop to go on these. I’d guess you would have to go on 100+ of these to get full AF. We only got 2 drops in 1 hour. There’s 50+ people, need 4 things of AF for a complete set, and god knows how many jobs these people have. You do the math. This is the ultimate challenge. I’ll probably have more respect for someone in full AF2 than someone in a full set of Cursed armor.

I’m sure some other people that went will post some stuff as well. Have fun getting your AF2~ Should cost you about 1 mil in gil, 100,000exp, and about 100+ hours

Damn, that sucks. Each attempt at dynamis, you're competiting with 54 people to roll on 1 item. To make it worst, lets just be a bit generous and say that it drops 4 relic items every dynamis fight (assuming you didn't have to reraise due to mass deaths). The chances of you getting the relic item is already rare enough so lets do the math.

Your chances of getting one item, if randomized, is 1/54 because you're competing against 54 other players on the roll. There is only 4 relic drops per dynamis fight (assumption based on seymour's statement) so your chances are 2/27 per dynamis fight. Not all of the relics belong to the job you want. Lets assume you have 4 jobs that could even get close to equipping those items, and there are 15 jobs. That means there is a 4/15 chance you will get the relic item drop that you want.

          So: 4/15 * 2/27 = 8/405 or 0.01975
          Almost 2 percent chance.

So if you want to get the whole set (4 pieces), you'll have to do this dynamis thing about 202 times. Since according to probability, you win the roll for 8 pieces per 405 dynamis attempts, and you want 4 pieces, so 405/2 = about 202.

A timeless hourglass is 1 million gils, split between 54 people, is 18518.5 gils, but we'll round to 20k for convience. To attempt dynamis 202 times for the 4 relic items, you'll need 20000 * 202 = 4,040,000 gils. We're not done yet, it takes a bit over 4 million gils to get 4 pieces for the jobs you want, but if you read above, this probability applies to FOUR jobs, not 1, meaning 4 million gils will reap you 4 relic armor, but all four pieces of armor doesn't have to specifically be for one job.

          Result:
-You have a 2/27 or 0.07407 chance you'll get any relic items at all per dynamis attempt.

-You have a 8/405 or 0.01975 chance you'll get any relic items that you can actually equip per dynamis fight (assuming you have 4 jobs over lvl 70).

-It takes a little over 4 million gils to get 4 pieces of relic armor that suits the four jobs that can equip it.

-You'll need to do dynamis a bit over 200 times to get 4 pieces and this doesn't gaurantee that all 4 pieces are for 1 job. This estimate is only based on the assumption that you have 4 jobs over lvl 70 to equip these, and that 4 pieces of armor could be suited randomly for any of those 4 jobs.

          -----------------------------------

          Conclusion:
Of course these results are probably horribly innaccurate due to the fault that they were based on the information on one dynamis hunt. Eventually, people will figure out ways to get even more relic drops per dynamis hunt and throw off my calculations. Overall, each piece of item is worth a million gils, which if you think about it, is not that much. Many things in rag are worth over a million.

Rofl do your math again Bishop.

Can you start in areas like San d'Oria and Windurst as well? Or only Bastok?

Wow that looks insane. One thing though, wouldnt it make sense for only the job type to lot for the items? So if some Relic drops an item for a whm only the whm lot on it??? They are rare and ex, so you cant sell them, so it seems like it would be the nice thing to do. Or am i just being stupid???

Actually that # is not unreasonal at all... welcome to high lvl content in most instanced the likeliness of you getting equipment from a raid is small. It's over repeated trips that your chances increase as LS's become organized in distributing loot. That was just a throw together alliance so it was everyone for themselves pretty much. Not an organized unit. As well they didn't even fight at HNM type mobs so once farming techniques get estabilished the typical trip will prob. consist of 4-5 relic armor drops and then the real loot oh some HNM drop. So hurry everyone to 75

I don't need to do my math again. Those numbers that struck gave me only makes your chances of getting af2 even more slim. Doesn't help any, just makes it worst.

                        Bishop:

The main reason your math is wrong is that you assume that everyone in the area will lot on all relics that drop.

All relic equipment is Rare, EX, and Lv 71+ for one job only. Very few people have two jobs to 71+, let alone all 15, so it would be useless spite for them to lot on relics for jobs other than their current job.

I would expect any group going into Dynamis to have a clear rule that nobody lots on relic unless it is for their CURRENT job, the one they are taking into Dynamis. The few people with multiple 71+ jobs just have to do twice as much Dynamis if they want two sets of relic.

If it turns out that people are lotting on them anyway (and the group can't enforce rules against it), it would be simple for SE to modify the rules for Dynamis lotting so that items with a job/level requirement can only be lotted on by people who meet the requirements. (Since the pieces vary in requirement up to 75, if this is implemented it might be a good idea to level all the way to 75 before starting Dynamis - what if your level 75 piece drops first and you're still 71?)

Therefore, you are only competing against the 4-5 (64/15) other people with the same job as you for each drop. After people have been doing Dynamis for a while, some of those people will have some pieces already and be unable to compete on them (rare), lowering the competition further. There may well be times when you are the only person of your job in that particular Dynamis that doesn't already have the relic.

Also, Dynamis has other loot besides relics, which has some value and offsets your contribution to the hourglass (although it doesn't affect the number of times you need to go). I don't know how much it is worth now, or how much it will be worth once the prices on it stabilize, but I'd expect it to be considerable.

Furthermore, if the reports on Dynamis that have been posted so far are typical, I'd expect the difficulty of Dynamis monsters to be adjusted in a patch in the next few months - particularly the astral flows that instantly kill everyone in range. I don't think SE intended it to be impossible, just challenging. Adjusting the monster difficulty will result in more kills per Dynamis attempt, thus more relic drops per attempt, etc.

try reading seymor's post. He even mentions weather the winner of the lot for the relic item even has a job that high. Holding an item of that stature is satisfying enough even if you can't equip it. And if they really want to, they would probably level a job from 1-70 in about 2 months just to use the af2.

There are more people on rag with at least 2 jobs over 70 than you think btw. And even if it wasn't 70, say their job was 61 or 65, they're pretty damn close to 70. Maybe if you actually play in rag, you would know this.

Indeed welcmoe to high level content. I may be low level in FF but im high level practically end game in EverQuest.

Average elemental planes god in EQ drops 2-3 pieces of loot which you can bet will be awesome for many classes (infact some are all classes all races). Considering a decent god ring event (waves of mobs) takes around 60+ people your chances of loot are awful.

Luckily in my EQ guild we dont random loot. Each raid whatever you attend gains you a point, person with most points wins the item and it's deducted from your total. Sadly don't see many guilds/LS with 100+ members that can field 60-70 at a time in FF.

Seems mostly people call to a zone for an event and it's bring your friends and whoever else wants to come along.

EQ raids which are made up of random people are often chaotic and end up in dissapointment, disorganisation and death as far as loot is concerned.

Prehaps this kind of event will make more LS's merge or start working out agreements. Prehaps thats already happening, im not sure as i would know)

So if you go on a encounter and your with 50 people you dont know then expect dissapointment because chances are they wont back down on an item even if you need it more.

Well, I guess it's obvious you can't just go in with a LS ;.; If 55+ lvl 70'ish are getting owned in there *sigh* That takes the fun factor down a notch I guess. I had hopes you could go in there with like 30 ppl and run around ;.; To bad, with 60 ppl it does make it harder to enforce fairness...
