Ok~ here's the scoop.

A friend of mine is totally in love with dragoon- yet he refuses to acknowledge the benefits of subbing WAR- or anything else for that matter- and insists on using MNK. He claims that FFXI is different now that the NA play and that noone cares about subjobs... -_-; I am so sick of his MNK supremist talk- please I need you people to post here and fix this totally distorted and wrong point of view. ( DRG / MNK ) He claims that ‚½‚ß‚ë is better than beserk because it doesn't do DEF down... This is just sick and wrong.

btw..

Attack interval of grappling is shortened
Sometimes character will counter with a hit when being attacked
Added bonus to maximum HP
Attack interval of grappling is shortened
Attack interval of grappling is shortened
Added bonus to maximum HP
Attack interval of grappling is shortened
Sometimes additional kicking will be added to attacking pattern
Added bonus to maximum HP
Attack interval of grappling is shortened

Now ask yourself...which one of these would help by subbing with DRG? Why need a HP boost? Your not tanking or most likely wont get it. Interval of grappling? If your a DRG using grapples you should be slapped. Counter would be okay...if you got it.

He says that since he can boost every 15 seconds it's better than beserk... -_-; And that counter is better than double attack. That's a major ;;;; right there.

Double Attack = you do it on your own. You have to be attacked to Counter, which DRG shouldnt.

Beserk = much more attack+ then Boost. Deffense down doesnt matter cause DRGs shouldnt be tanking.

Nothing annoys me more then hearing some egocentric NA n00b using the old "don't use the cookie-cutter sub jobs" excuse. I dont care how much you had your mind set and being a brd/nin, rdm/bst, pld/smn, blk/mnk, there are job combinations that you JUST DONT USE. There are such things as "best" or "perfect" sub for a given job. Anything else is sub-par. But if you want to do the "UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL FLOWER!!111" bullshit, go ahead and suck.

I can see how at lower lvs mnk might be seen as a viable sub(by him) however its not a very good sub. Counter only works if youre being hit. As he doesnt have provoke(at lower lvs any melee can be a secondary tank) and his overall dmg is less, he won't be getting hate too much, so thats pretty useless. Double attack can work if youre not being attacked. Plus if you chain boost every15 you raise your delay. I don't care if you "time it right" you increase your delay. ill type more later maybe but i just got out of school after doing an all nighter writing 2 term papers, ciao~~

No- he just thinks he's so hardcore because he's such a "free thinker" and hates it when "others try to tell him how to play the game" Also - if the PT doesn't let him rest his Wyvern full HP- then he says he'll say FUCK YOU to the PT and leave. how little he knows.

lol... its gonna take him along time lvling if he wants his wyvern to rest more than a good pt. i noticed wyverns get really messed up by AOE attacks. at CN the pt i was in had 2 dragoons and their wyverns both got wiped out within the first battle.

trying to prove something to people set in their ways are a lost cause. you'll just get a big headache and stress. if you do, just be sure to be nice about it. this game is not worth loosing a real life friend.

The whole thing about dragoons and their wyvern's weakness to AoE attacks is somthing that most new players as a whole havn't really thought about too much because of their lovely pickup parties.

To be honest, once y'get past the whole Valkurm/Qufim phase, the reason PTs form in Jeuno is to observe the party formation, and pick enemies to fight against that'll be the best for your formation. For the same reason a party that has a RNG or a DRG in it should avoid bones, if your DRG's wyvern is important don't fight enemies with strong AoE attacks.
