Erm.....RPing falls apart quickly in FFXI...

After the first 30 days ingame, FFXI becomes an extension of your life, and unless you're a total fruitcake, you don't run around in real life "RPing"...

Just thought I'd pass that on.

But in all seriousness. What I'm trying to tell you is that almost noone, infact, not ONE person I have met in this game in the year I've been playing, RPs in FFXI. It just gets weird. Like I said before- FFXI becomes a part of you, like going to a bar or something- and why would you act any different in a bar than you would in any other social situation?

Well this is how I look at it...

I play this game to escape real life... and I enjoy playing a character I could never be... though i'm still confused as to what exactly that will be... atleast I've narrowed it down =P

but back on topic, I think that Roleplaying brings a certain charm to these type of games and is needed to make you feel like your really in the world of Vanadiel. But I'm just old fashioned... still doesn't mean my playstyle is "wrong"... and I'm sure i'm not the only old fashioned D&D and FF player on ragnarok either...

Well actually, you are the only one who really has brought up RPing. And like Exile said- it stops becoming and escape, and becomes part. RPing just makes FFXI weird. Maybe in a few months you'll understand that.

I dunno, I've seen a few Japanese players who RP, getting in to the whole taru-speak and that kind of thing. I think we don't see it with the importers so much because the numbers are so small. It's a pretty minority thing, but I'm sure you'll see it more with English players. After all, role-playing as a cuddly-wuddly taru sounds really-weally great
