I'm in a bit of a pickle...

So i just bought final fantasy XI for the xbox 360 and I've installed the playonline veiwer, but then it tells me to update it, and whenever i try to update it, it just says "checking playonline viewer version" for about 5 minutes then gives me "Error code POL- 1160"
My internet connection is fine, i can play any other game on xbox live, but this wont update.
If anyone could help me, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Possibly a port block? I don't know. FFXI doesn't use the same service as Xbox Live, though (which is why you can sign out/get disconnected from XBL but still be in game). You DO have to be signed on to XBL to sign in, though....I know XBL has been having issues lately, don't know if its related.

Oh really?
Well I'm pretty sure its not related cause live has been working fine.
I've been trying to update the viewer since yesterday afternoon but it just won't update. :/

It's a port issue. There is a guide somewhere that tells you how to fix it but the url to it eludes me right now. I think I saw it on allakhazam

Yeah well I've been trying like non-stop the past day and a half to update it hah.
Well i guess ill try and find that guide to solve it.
