How do I see server/character info?

    How do I see server/character info?

    So this has bugged me for a while. I know when I first started on these boards and we listed character info, I could see it. Now, I can't. I've been religiously updating my own info, but I still can't see anyone else's. For instance, let's say I decide to take a look at Feba's character profile. Feba doesn't play anymore, so I'm not sure whether he has any info or not, but even if he did I still see the following under "FFXI Character Info": Feba is not a member of any public groups.

    Is there a button I'm missing that lets me see what others have levelled? Or have I enabled or disabled something in my User settings that blocked this? I know others can see this info, and I'm assuming I've been updating mine so they can read it. What do I need to do?

    My name has no character info bar since I choose not to share that information. So maybe the people you are interested in choose not to show theirs also? Also I believe it uses Flash, do you have those settings enabled?

      That would be a bug. It should (and on my side, does) say "Character: Feba ;Server: Fenrir". Also, I am a member of a public group. (unless that's referring to usergroups)

      Anyway, I'm pretty sure this feature got messed up in a site update, and never bothered to get updated. You can click "View public profile", though, and that should show you whatever you want to know.

          Actually that was what I was doing for the first example of you, Feba. If I do that on myself, I get exactly the same effect. I tried going through settings, and even added myself to my buddy list, ("part man, part dog, I'm my own best friend,") I can't even see me on the View Public Profile list. I'm not quite sure what happened, because as I said, before I took a year off from the boards, I remember being able to see this stuff.

            Well, I can view your info just fine. So it's probably something with your account. Could be when PiNG put in all the anti-spammer stuff he messed with something so you don't have permissions to view that stuff.

              Ok, well if you can see it then I at least know my updating efforts are not going to waste. Now if I can just figure out how to fix it so I can see things again.

              On that note, I'm also having problems uploading a .jpeg signature from my computer to the website, is there a particular trick to getting this to work? I'm getting to the right menu to do it, it just won't seem to pull it off my drive. Every other board I've used it on also converts it to .gif, which this board doesn't seem to like, either.

                Well, they are. Because nobody really cares. You'd be better off starting an FFXI blog and linking it in your sig, at least that would be remotely interesting.

                And I'm pretty sure most people use an external image host (imageshack.us, for example), and not ffxionline, for their sigs.

                    Me too, and they only seem to have it in Light Version 6.

                      Aha, it only works in Version 6's. Well that's kind of sucky. Any chance they'll put this back up in Version 5's? I'm really not a fan of either Light or Dark settings in V6.

                        All I can do is post it in the Mod section and see if someone can look into it. Admins are very busy so it might take some time.
