um, fraps is not freeware, they allow free downloads of a restricted version. what you are doing is illegal in most countries.

2 things...

first off, this is a public available site... if that link was still up, the site could get sued for hosting a link to the pirated software.

secondly, if that site WAS still linked, this thread would've been locked and the member would have been already banned.

yes, you play the kazaa game, but the riaa are all over kazaa like vultures over a fresh kill. if you keep kazaa up for 24 hours (this is key) or more i'm sure that you'll be served with a subpoena before long.

oh yeah, why don't YOU try making a publicly available site hosted on servers in countries that have signed the geneva convention and see how fast you get served a subpoena...

About 90% of my bad music is pirated, as well. I end up buying the good stuff, though.

The fact about kazaa, and other P2P applications, is that the RIAA/MPIAA/Etc/Etc cannot/will not file a lawsuit against you unless you're the person providing the pirated software. If you turn sharing off, and only download, you don't have to pay rediculous inflated retail prices. And the people still sharing? Usually people overseas anyways, or just dumb people, so overall meh. Not a big deal to me, personally.

But to be quite honest, I find the whole stance against pirated software to be rediculous. You really want to pay 900 dollars for a photo suite? Go ahead. x.X I for one don't have that type of scratch, nor will I ever, and if I can get it for free I'm not going to pass up such an opportunity. I wouldn't have bought it anyways, so the companies get the same amount of cash they would have gotten from me in the first place. I'm not the type of person whom will save up for something. Either I can afford it, or I can't. :dead: It's called permanant unemployment.

People just need to calm down, honestly. Way too many aggressive opinions.

And besides, if someone is posting pirated software on a message board, it's more likely viral than legitimately pirated.

fraps couldn't sue anyone for thier program as it is illegal to use with most games, read all end user license agreements and they all state "no third party programs to be used in conjunction with this software etc etc etc" and fraps is a third party program recording from SE's software

What an application is used for has no bearing on it's intellectual and property and copyrights... Most things that are copyrighted have no purpose and what you do with them is your own business but reproduction and sale without express written consent or monetary compensation is still illegal, even if you sell it as toilet paper...

On the other hand, it also would be illegal for SE to put any software on your computer to track what software that is not their own property you have running on your computer... Fraps is not a cheat and does not modify the POL or FFXI client so it's sort of a grey area anyways... I can hit print screen and then paste the image I take into paint and save it as a jpeg - does that make using Windows and Paint a violation of the TOS?

i wasn't saying i agree what this guy has done but i just think its not illegal, but that company gives a great service (fraps) and im willing to just contribute to help that service become greater, you have to think there is some guy constantly working on these projects to make them better for all of us and a little donation to use a full program helps him in his studies for materials and his time to check, so please dont give out a full version, just buy the thing. bet none of u got ffxi downloaded from net, you all went out and bought it and pay monthly for it, y? cause its great, like fraps
