I was wondering if anyone has ever managed to export the FFXI models successfully to 3ds or another 3D design tool (say, Blender, or Maya, or something), and if so, what the trick is for getting it to work.
Right now, the best I've managed to do is export to MQO (Metasequoia) format from the Model Viewer, then save into DXF (Autocad) format, and import into 3ds. Unfortunately, this royally destroys the textures, and... honestly I just want to play with the rendering and lighting aspects rather than the texture mapping (although, maybe in the future I will).
Anyway, I've seen screenshots of models imported and textured correctly in 3ds, so I know it can be done, but everyone seems tightlipped on the specifics. I'm hoping someone who knows the ins and outs of the different file formats and programs and stuff could point me in the right direction?
