A friend and I decided to try something interesting.
Each place has a map. These map files are actually .dat files just like models in the game. We thought hell... if people were making edited models why can't we make edited maps?
So... we tried our best to get the map .dat files turned into .MQO files using the new EN FFXI Model Viewer. Success!
We now have all the files needed including a .BMP of the map! Our problem we ran into was now that we have tried editing the .BMP we can't get the .MQO back into a .DAT file.
I'm just trying to experiment with this. I've tried converting the file back using the FFXI Model Viewer but I get the error "The file is the wrong type."
If anyone can help out or know another way or application that I can convert the group of files back into a .DAT file please let me know!
Thanks,
