I have to disagree a tad. It makes sense to make him look nightmarish too. He's supposed to be an ugly dragon. But making him a better looking one, handsome one, that can make sense too. I don't have a problem with how he looks, but I rather he not look 'pretty'. And look more dangerous and well, ugly. There's too much 'prettyness' in FF :p

Let me lay it down for you. I love dragons, before I ever picked up a video game back in the day. The myth and legends go that Bahamut is the brother to Tiamat, who is his sister. In the myths, neither is above the other, for they are equal.

However, in most of the "newer" version of the myths and video games, Bahamut is the "Dragon God", while tiamat is really merely a very powerful dragon. Truth be told, I like that. Bahamut has more of a power and tone to him thenm tiamat.

Oh, and Bahamut is not a "pet", thank you very much. Dragons differ in size and look by culture, area and color. Stereotyping Bahamut to look exactly like you wish him to, or basing him on another dragon is purely wrong.

Bahamut isn;t supposed to be a cuddly little dragon pet like DRG wyvern, but a Dragon GOD.

          Hmm..

Actually, I never found Bahamut in mythology.. Tiamat was not only the most powerful dragon, she was also the mother of all creation.. Tiamat was a Mesopotamian embodiment of the sea. From what most sources say, Bahamut and Tiamat are the same as Behemoth and Leviathan..

..And there was the bit about Bahamut being a turtle or some such that held up the world? Or was that some other random dragon.. hm.

To Fallen12Star: I didn't know that there was an actual reference in regards to Tiamat in actual mythology. However, when people mention Bahamut & Tiamat in the same sentence, it is from the original role playing game called Dungeons and Dragons. D&D was the birth of all RPGs we see today. For those of you too young to know, D&D was originally a pen & paper RPG. That means you have your "game master" that basically tells you the story and descriptions of everything. It was up to each player to "recreate" what he describes in their minds. They control a character, just as we do in current RPGs and journey through the adventure the game master supplies to the players. They use dice, some player's handbooks, paper, pencils and their imagination. That was how role-playing games were back before they were on any electronic device.

D&D was very popular and still is to an extent. With the advent of computers, there has been many D&D games on consoles and PCs (such as Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, etc.) D&D is often referred to a "satanic game" because of often reference to monsters and "demons" you can fight. It is basically whatever the Game master throws at you. I think at one point, there was a report of a group of players actually taking the game too far and someone died or got hurt. That's why D&D has a negative connotation to adults. I mean think about it, you're sitting there playing this game with your friends and your parents walk by and listen in or see the actual handbooks. I'd bet your parents would be scared if that their kids were talking about demons, monsters and interacting with them?

As with anything, especially games... there's a line you draw from fantasy and reality. You have to realize what is real and what isn't. Those that cross the line and actually believe the game is real is a problem with that person... not the game. It rings true that one bad apple ruins the bunch, as I've seen several games (especially RPG or anything related to fantasy) get a bad reputation because someone took it too far.

                Re:

Yeah, I remember hearing about Bahamut and Tiamat first being paired in D&D.. unfortunately my RP career began with White Wolf . But yeah, Tiamat was nothing like she is in FF (In fact, Im not even sure its a she in FF), they seem to have dropped the sea dragon bit. But almost everything of FF starts in either D&D or Mythology. Usually both. But get more good pics of Bahamut, as Lion said, he is daaaamn cool.

And hi Lionhart sorry to hear about GoL, but you guys were stealin' our members anyway hehe ^^ How close are you to getting us some screenies of a duel with him?

Oh god how I miss playing AD&D. AD&D with my brother as the DM and his friends was the best times I've ever had.

                    Now everyone is gone...

For the record, my Mom was ok with us playing D&D. :D

I have a couple Bahamut pics tied to the missions on my Screenshots thread. I don't know if they are that much different.

What happened to GoL? They broke up?? Sorry Lionhart
