  • Avatar Assasin Journal #5: A Mage called Ramuh ***56K Warning***

Technically this journal should have been #4, since we did this prior to Ifrit, I had these images still batched in Photoshop while I was putting together the Ifrit pictures. Anyway on with the show...

We arrive at the entrance to the Boyhada Tree in Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. Darus lightens the mood with a little tune.

We hurry through the winding passageways within the great tree on our way to the Cloister of Storms.

I come across a massive waterfall inside of the Boyhada Tree. Could our destination lie beyond its torrent?

Getting closer to the base of the waterfall, I can see a passageway leading further in.

We arrive safely into the Cloister of Storms. The team takes a casual pose before the Lightning Protocrystal.

The Lightning Protocrystal begins to softly resonate with the overpriced kitchen utensil in my back pocket.

This part always makes me a little queasy...

Behold, Ramuh's lair.. aswirl in... is that... incense!?

The Lord of Storms looks a little cramped inside that Protocrystal.

It was time to interrupt his little siesta for a beatdown lesson in subservience.

"In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.
I have dived into the arms of infamous darkness, only to walk the shores of a forgotten land.
I am the student who has bested the teacher, yet knows my learning continues.
My journey is the stuff of legend, yet my voyage is just beginning..."

As I approach the crystal, the area shakes and lightning strikes the ground before my feet.

In a swirling mass of energy, a cloaked figure emerges from the summoner's seal.

Ramuh himself emerged from the seal to challenge our strength.

Cozy little place for a shocking epic battle no?

As the haze vanishes, I walk along the long path toward our prey.

I had heard horror stories from those who had fallen while challenging Ramuh, so I take some extra precautions.

"Sing us a song magic mana man... sing us a soooong toooniggght...."

Lennie finishes casting Barthundera on the team and rushes back to catch Darus' Mage's Ballad I & II.

The battle begins. Ramuh seems to be charging up something ugly...

Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark in the morning.

"In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.
I have dived into the arms of infamous darkness, only to walk the shores of a forgotten land.

      KaBOOM!

Man, this guy can take a beating, and he's dishing out some good hurt too.

"I have a bad feeling about this..." Ramuh preps something special. Varena fights in her wedding dress >_<

Ersou shares my sentiment and tosses up Rampart to protect his compatriots.

I try to delay the inevitable with a little Paralysis magic. Resisted... DAMN!

Ramuh unleashes his ultimate attack: Judgement Bolt! Ersou's HP vanishes.

      Ersou.... ERSOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the PLD drops like a lode stone, the mages run for the hills. GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!

The big scary guy in the black leather sets his eye on me, time for Blink!

Varena throws some armor on and whips Ramuh into submission.

"In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.

The Lord of Storms congratulates us on a hard fought battle. Alas, poor Ersou - I knew him well.

With final words, Ramuh vanishes from sight. I try vainly to hijack his kick-ass staff.

Ramuh returns to his economy housing. Ouch, doesn't that look cramped?

        "I am...the BATMAN!"

Ramuh imparts more words of wisdom, and a fragment of his power.

With a final goodbye, i'm whisked away from Ramuh's Lair.

I return to speak with Ripapa, the researcher from the Windurst Rhinostery visiting Mhuara.

Ripapa blathers on about our victory, I can't take my eyes off the Elvaan in the Haubergeon.

Ripapa ponders the meaning of the resonance of all the greater elemental protocrystals.

The cursed cupie-doll makes a guest appearance. "Oh.. brother.. not you again.."

"In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.

Without a moments notice we're whisked away from Mhuara...

and back into Ramuh's den. I ponder the meaning of all these hallucinations.

Another encounter with the bastard offspring of Raggedy Ann and Tom Servo.

"Leaning at this angle is hell on high-heels. Don't try this at home."

I stare blankly at the Lightning Protocrystal and thought about what a bitchin' blacklight it'd be in my moghouse.

The electric rat basks in the gentle light of the crystal. "I hope you get skin cancer you annoying rodent!"

I hold my tongue as I notice the bugger's already blue and glowing.

I return to the real world and Ripapa, devoid of his memory of our meeting.

I return to Zehrun Mines to summon Ramuh for the first time.

Lightning strikes the ground, forming the Summoner's Seal.

The shape of a man can be seen within the electric bubble.

Ramuh tosses back his robe - he certainly has a flair for the dramatic.

What a tall, pale, gothic.. almost Elvaan... lord of lightening he is.

            FIN

With the recent slayings of Ramuh and Ifrit, only Leviathan was left on our list before doing it all over again for a shot at the puppy. I'll post those diaries as soon as we successfully complete the quests.

Depends on your team. The time limit is 30 min until your tossed out of the Protocrystal. Ramuh was a pain and took us about 11 minutes. Ifrit on the other hand went down in around 6-7 min.
