Re: My first attempt (with patience and effort) at a full body drawing...

Ok so my next attempt at a not so full body drawing:

I've eased up on the shading alot, I've also started using a mixture of blurred and not blurred shading but that's not really apparent here and I've started using model viewer when referencing characters so it's looks more like the race/character etc

Criticism again if you will XD and let me know if you think I've improved any

Better. some parts of it almost look rotoscoped. I would check the face, though. the mouth looks a bit too high, and the lips look off-center. The nose looks off, though I can't place it, and she looks a little cross eyed.

She looks a bit tall for a mithra, but that might just be me; and the fact that most mithran players pick small (as do tarus; humes vary; elvaan and galka tend towards large).

you might also want to do a bit more on her left side; unless you intended her to be an amputee, it looks like she's missing it.

XD I know what you mean
Wherever I put the arm it didn't seem right, like she was somehow defying physics by having it wherever I put it so in the end I put in "behind her so you can't see it"

Have you tried adding an arm either on the back of her or the top of her for example, reaching up to the sky?

Also I would like to see some more shadows. But I'm not sure how well it would look. Just a suggestion from a non-artist.

Faces are everyone's weakest point, at least in my experience.

Everything Feba said was on course, both that it is a better drawing and that she looks like an amputee (I honestly didn't catch that at first). There is also some kind of twisting effect, like she is thrusting her right side forward while twisting her neck tot he right; that can not be very comfortable.

And while this may not be as major an issue to some, this is the thing that's just irritating the most: there's just far too much blur on the tail, particularly the tip! >.<

While it is good, there is still plenty of room for improvement, not solely the above criticisms included.

Well, this would probably explain why she looks like she is twisting herself like she is. I would take Omniblast's advice if I were you. Something else you can do is make the entire arm in another layer, and try working with that.

Ok so another picture for you guys to look at :D This time not coloured, for the first time I learned how to use the pen tool and re-did all my pencil lines, I had wanted to do that for ages because pencil lines can look so eww but it took me awhile to get the hang of the pen tool >w< I think doing the lines this way is definitely an improvement XD Anyways, taru this time, I find them hard to draw >_> but I think I may have got things a bit better this time.. I mean.. she has 2 arms this time!

As for the above Mithra, she's awesome. The eye issue is from the right eye being tilted too high and the iris seems too large. If the outside corner was brought down a tad and the iris/pupil of the eye a smidge smaller I think it might improve it. Faces straight on are hard enough but when there are angles to deal with it only makes it more difficult. I think you did a fine job. I also disagree about the arm. In my mind, especially with the look on her face, I see her with her arm bent and her fist on her hip. You wouldn't see the arm/hand in that pose then. If you wanted to give that illusion though you could put fingers around the front of her hip like her open hand is on her hip and maybe have her elbow peek out or something.

On to the taru...right eye is a twinge too large and the nose is too big. (imo) Otherwise I think she's absolutely lovely and look forward to seeing the colored version.

I resized the nose and eye to 90% of the original, what do you think, bit more/bit less?

Awesome I'll start colouring it now :D

And here is the finished piece: I know people told me not to over-blur so I've used a combo of both Criticism please :D

Ok my next attempt: I tried a different thing this time, I didn't draw the lines free hand I worked over a screen shot. Someone I know on DA did something similar and made theirs look awesome. It still took a lot of effort but I'm pleased with how it came out so far, apart from the feather, couldn't get that to look right for love or money :<
                            Anyways, criticism if you can

It almost looks like it was right out of the screenshot. You did the Duelist's Tabard justice, that much is for sure. However, something about the Warlock's Chapeau is throwing me off. Perhaps it is too sharp, the angles too small? It also just doesn't give the same sense of dominance and achievement that it endows every Red Mage it graces.

Either way, she looks ready, and quick at the cast. Good job.

Second look: I also notice you seem to find an excuse for putting hair in the way, and ultimately, relying on such a trick is just going to hurt you in the end. The part in the back of the head does not look natural with the way the rest of the hair is. . . . I am sorry, it is hard to describe exactly, but I'm just saying, what the heck kind of mess would I see should that hat ever come off? Or maybe the ear is a bit too far back? I'm not sure.

Re: Colored Carby and Summoner: it has a nice cartoony feel to it, yes, with the most major flaw I can see is the face: it is far, far too light: it's glowing more than the squirrel around her neck, and that can't be good.

Yeah the chapeau is a bit odd, the edge looks like a paper airplane :<

Yeah I always try and hide the face with hair >w< easy cop out I guess but I'm starting a new picture of a mithra friend so I won't be able to do that this time XD

Thanks for the advice, hopefully your input will show in the next picture :D
