Is the feel of FFXI like that of EverQuest Online Adventures?

Please explain to me why or why not in the most detail possible. The more, the better. I currently play EQOA and am really looking forward to FFXI. The problem is that I'm in doubt as is FFXI is bigger and better in all aspects compared to EQOA. Please explain even little details like macros, character development, clothing customization, and world expansion and story length. It would really put my mind at ease in whether or not buy FFXI. Thanx in advance!

1. most important.
EQoA is an USA style game. it contains super ugly character models: old looking face, prisoner, scary, scars, dirly lame looking characters running all around.
FF XI is a japanese style game. it has an acceptable looking characters with clean face and some touch of graduation in them.

2. EQoA you got no idea what you're doing. who's attacking who can't be seen clearly by looking at the game
FF XI you see it clearly and easy what's going on. are you attacking ... what are you attacking... what is attacking you... it's the motion and and the rythm.

3. EQoA developed from the crappy ol' EQ.
FF XI developed from the supirier FF series.
you can expect the elements that had been in their originals...

dunno what else to say... FF XI is not crappy like EQoA is all i can say : P

the graphics are a whole lot better on FF11 as you can see thro screenshots! FF11 is alot bigger as they said at EQ show. EQ does not have the same reason and itmes/(in such) as FF11, FF11 has alot more, and better to say items/weapons/armor. FF11 has real invoriments, as EQs is knid of fake lookin and cant really tell what the hells going on FF11 makes that easy. alot more but the person on top of me sumed it up.

God, lol, i laugh so much anytime anyone compares FFXI to EQOA. lol that game is so horrid, i cant even begin to explain how bad it is. That says alot too. Before I imported FFXI, I was really skeptical! VERY VERY skeptical, because i played everquest first on pc, and omg, i was almost about to not get FFXI, because i thought that if it was gonna be anything like everquest, i didnt want anything to do with it. It is true though, FFXI is an mmorpg, like the everquest series, however...it improves on the formula so friggin much, that FFXI almost becomes it's genre. Some are the differences are this...

Everquest on pc sucks, friggin rediculous, because it is a PC game. Makes use of every damn key on the keyboard, and half the time cant remember what the hell does what ><

Everquest online adventures tries to have simplified controls of the PC version, they make the controls almost for a stupid game player it seems like.

Final Fantasy xi is both PC and console friendly, the menu system makes things so friggin easy, but complicated at the same time. I cant explain how they're better sometimes, but they just are. you just choose and click.

I havent even gone into the graphics...i dont mean to be a hater of anything not next gen quality, but everquest, or EQOA graphics are just always UGLY!! they are annoying, and totally uninspired. As for FFXI, just see for yourself.

Heh heh, nicely put, Jei. You know, with all this EQ bashing, I've never been able to bring myself to even so much as try EQ (in any of its... "manifestations"), and yet where I'd normally feel like I was missing something...

but seriously EQ is terrible, the biggest problem with the game was that there was no reward for exploration. if fact you were damned if u did anything except sit in front of an enemy camp for hours and hours killing them over and over and over, the same damn dervish camp over and over "your faction with the dervish cutthroats has gone down" I DONT CARE JUST GIVE ME A LVL IVE BEEN KILLING THIS CAMP FOR 5 HOURS NOW!!!!!!!!! whoa i hate that. anyway for any importer who has played EQ PLease!!! tell me that FFXI rewards the exploration of dungeons and cave and landscapes instead of just forcing everyone of the same lvl to fight at the same exact place for hours and hours. please i must know hehehehe

i really can't stand watching people play most MMORPGs, they're just so boring and badly designed. but with FFXI, i could sit around watching the livecam forever, if it didn't keep repeating stuff

EQOA is basically a watered down MMORPG which was rushed through development in order to get it out in the USA before FFXI. With EQOA, you're paying for a great MMORPG, but getting one the quality of a free MMORPG.

hmm i've played EQOA for the PS2 and i can honestly say u people are going a bit over board with the comments... i have a maxed char, lvl 50 cleric that took a month and half to get to. graphics are ok and the camping is pretty much the same as any other MMORPG. sit around an area and kill monsters for lvl like any other MMORPG, fastest way to lvl.

looking at screenshots of a game and saying "its crap" or "wow what a great game" without actually playing it isnt really a way to review gameplay, all it does is make u a graphics wh0re.

for alot of you bashing EQOA, have u actually played the game? no i dont mean EQ PC, i mean EQOA for the PS2. i've never played FF11 or EQ for the PC so i cant speak for those, but EQOA is actually very fun.

BloodMage is on the money. You can't just look at a few screenshots and tell that it is a horrible game or not. I started playing EQOA for a month now and it is a good game. But honestly theyve played that game to much, theyre basicly stuck in theire little world in there.

I dont know anything about EQ honestly but I know lots about FFXI and for all what I care it seems like the perfect game, I mean theyre mad cuz you lose exp ^^

What if there were no penalties for dying then there were no reason of trying to survive.

And you dont have to lose exp either

But It's your choice but I'd say stick to FFXI so I can play with you :D
