  • Vana'diel time expert needed

    Meow, I'm trying to convert the time of any computer system into UTC+9 Japan time, and then into Vana'diel time.

    One site uses these starting times as a frame of reference:
    2002/06/24 00:00:00 - Earth starts
    0898/02/01 00:00:00 - Vana'diel starts

    I know that Vana'diel time runs faster than Earth time.
    Does the Vana'diel calandar differ from ours? Are there 360 days in a year, and 30 days in every month in Vana'diel's calendar?

    Well I'm not sure but since they have different event in for example X-mas (real time) and such things It seems like they have the same days as ours.

      I don't know where that site got the info for the date...i wasn't sure Vana'diel even had a "date" system, but the clocks are cool nonetheless. :D

        1 Hour Earth time = 1 Day Vana'diel Time

        The clock system works in a consistent fashion, having a calendar system equivalent to our own...

        however, events that are based on Earth times (New Years, Cherry Blossom Festival [Day before 1st day of Spring]) are based on Earth time constraints.

        events and/or criterion that are based on certain in-games, naturally, are based on in-game times (for example, your chance of find a Carbuncle Ruby for the SMN quest is greatest on "Fire" Days [some days have an elemental affinity attributed to it], meaning from the start of that in-game day, you have 1 Earth hour before the next in-game day starts)

            Incoming rambling/tangent/distress:

            http://www3.big.or.jp/~wanpaku/FFXI/index.cgi
            http://www2.neweb.ne.jp/wc/toys/timer.html
            These two sites have different vana'diel times =._.= Maybe it's because they assume the user's system is set to Japanese time =._.=;;;

            But anyway, the java codes say 1 earth millisecond = 25 vana'diel milliseconds, and people on the forum say the equivalent of 1 earth millisecond = 24 vana'diel milliseconds =._.=;;;; Yikes.

              One the second primary menu in game, click the third option from the bottom...it will give you a display of both Earth and Vana'diel time and dates (the Earth date is based on the Windows' time, not the current time on the server)
