Sub job level cap?

Ok, I used search and couldn't find an answer so please don't yell at me if this was answered before.

I have read different things about the sub job level cap on various sites and boards. I was hoping someone who either played the game or knew the answer for sure could help me out

Ok, if I have a lvl 20 monk and a lvl 52 warrior, and I make the monk my main job and warrior sub, would it be...
a)monk 20/ warrior 26 (sub job half of normal lvl but higher than main job)
or
b)monk 20/ warrior 10 (sub job half of current primary job lvl)


Also if my monk is lvl 20 and my warrior is lvl 10, would it be...
a)monk 20/ warrior 5 (sub job half of its normal level)
or
b)monk 20/ warrior 10 (sub job is 100% it's normal level but is still 50% of primary level)

Believe it or not, I have read people saying each of these examples are correct?

So what is it? Can someone explain it please? Thanks in advance :spin:

YOUR SUB JOB LEVEL IS " HALF YOUR MAIN JOBS" IF YOUR A LEVEL 20 MONK BUT YOU SUB YOUR LEVEL 52 WARRIOR YOUR WARRIOR WILL BECOME LEVEL 10( 20 DIVIDED BY 2 DURR)
I'VE SEEN THIS ANSWER COUNTLESS NUMBERS OF TIMES. . . . *DEEP BREATH* your sub can never be higher then your main and will always be half so if you have a level 44 theif and a level 22monk and you change your main to monk and sub theif it'll be 22/11, your theifs level will become half your main!!

Wow... calm down. What a stupid thing to get angry about. The reason I was asking is because I have seen different answers, as you so greatly put it, "COUNTLESS NUMBERS OF TIMES".

For it being such a dumb post, I noticed you weren't even able to answer the second question. You know, about is the sub job ALSO half of its normal level. In other words, to have a 60 warrior/ sub 30 monk, would I have to level the monk to lvl 60 first? I'm asking this again for other viewers... not you.

As for your second question. If you wanted a lvl 60 DK/30 MNK you would only need to level your monk to 30. your main job determines you subjobs maximum level, so it is not necessary to go to 60.

so a quick re-cap... (some examples)

-A level 20 Warrior sets his/her level 50 Paladin as a sub. He/She now become a level 20 warrior/10 paladin. When he/she levels up to 22 WAR, his maximum subjob level will increase so he/she goes to a 11 LVL PLD sub.

-A LVL 60 WHM sets a LVL 25 BLM as his/her sub. He/She now becomes a LVL 60WHM/25 BLM. His/Her BLM has not reached the Subjob maximum, so it stays at 25.

-A LVL 30 THF sets a LVL 15 RDM as his/her subjob. He/She now has a LVL 30 THF/15 RDM. The subjob stays at 100% because it just fits the "half of the mainjobs' level" limit.

So if your Lvl 30 Warrior switches to sub (ex. lvl 15) that kinda sucks doesn't it? It goes down 15 levels.

It would only go down if the lvl 30 WAR subbed for a lvl 30 main job. If the 30 WAR subbed for a lvl 60 mainjob it would stay a level 30. you're not acctually loosing levels, If you switch it back to a main job it will stay at level 30. Also, if the sub was originally a higher level than you main job, it would come back as you increase the subjobs maximum level. the whole point is so your sub isn't stronger than your mainjob.
