      Re: Jobs

      Woah, one step at a time!

      Samurai is an advanced job, if you didn't already know. You can unlock it by doing a quest at lv.30 on any of the 6 starting jobs. The quest is quite difficult, especially at lv.30, so you're best off getting help for it. Ask an LS member or shout for help.

      Subjobs are jobs you can sub, basically. All subjobs will be half the level of your main job. Example: a lv.20 WAR subbing MNK, the MNK level will be 10. You get all magic/abilities except the 2hour that you'll normally have at your subjob level. You get it at lv.18 via quest that you can actually do while leveling in Valkurm.

      Here's some advice since you seem kinda new. Start out as a MNK, and level to 18. Then turn around and level WAR/MNK to 30-37 (ultimately you want 37). Then unlock SAM and use SAM/WAR. Also, you might want THF to lv37 and maybe RNG.

          Re: Jobs

          No, you can't have an extra/advanced/whatever job until you hit 30 on one of the starting jobs and unlock it via a quest. You can have a subjob after completing a quest at level 18, but until you unlock the extra jobs at 30, you can only choose from the jobs you have available to you (Warrior, Monk, Thief, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage).

              The OP doesn't seem like an experienced player; one can hardly blame him for not finding or recognizing the information he wanted in the ill organized labyrinth that is this site. At least he made an attempt at finding info on his own. ^_^b

              yet not a mote of dust is stirred;

                  It's 100 times better than Alla and KI on which I have only rarely been able to find anything unless I knew what it was before I went there, and some things, on Alla, cannot be found without circumventing their "paid membership" search feature by using Google to scan them.

                  How to scan a website using Google example

                  wiki.ffxiclopedia.org and ffxi.somepage.com are quite searchable and useful as stand-alone sites. If you need reference information (e.g. to answer questions like those you just asked), go to www.ffxiclopedia.org first. If you are looking for advanced gear searches (e.g. Which pants give DRG more Attack?) , certain guides, limits, and other databasey-searchy-query stuff, Somepage is the king.

                    Agreed, whenever I search for something on Google, wiki.ffxiclopedia.ord is usually the top, if not, the 2nd, result.

                    I really doubt the OP "tried" to search himself.

                      Re: Jobs

                      You don't need to search to find that out. There's a great thread in this section that mention about the subjob.
