regarding world passes.....

hey, i'm new to ffxi and i have somewhat of a puzzling question. i'm trying to play on the same server as my cousin, however right now he's at work so i dont know what server that is. he has told me he will get me a world pass so i can join him, but from what i'm reading, if i create a character now and join a random server, i cannot join his server with my character using the world pass? is that correct?
secondly, i attempted to create a character and got right to the point of creating my name and choosing my world but i didn't see a spot to enter a world pass. how does this work? i choose the server i want and they ask me for the world pass password?
3rd, if i create a character for tonight and use that character to just learn a few aspects of the game, can i delete that character and create another one to join his server without being billed the extra dollar? any help would be appreciated?

If you create your character now, you will either have to delete that character or buy a new content ID to make one on his world. The only time you can use a World Pass is at character creation.

The Worldpass is entered right after name. If you enter the name of the world you are going to, then it will prompt you for a World Pass number.

So if you want to just play around with game mechanics and stuff, definitely go ahead and just get randomly placed. Then when you get the WP, go ahead and delete and start over for real on his world.

This is actually an ideal opportunity for you to try out different races and appearances. Make sure you choose one that you like. You'll be looking at that character for a long time.^^

thanks for the info. it helps a great deal. my next question to that is, do you know if i do delete my original character, is that the end of my 30 day free trial? just curious as to what to prepare myself for

It's not the end of your trial. Each character is bound to a content ID. That is what you purchase, and pay for every month. You can't have a Character without a Content ID, but you can have a Content ID without a Character (if that makes sense).

So your 30 days will still last 30 days. That doesn't change.^^
