        Re: Good Gil

BTW I appologize for the butchering of place names in advance.
I would sugest leveling thf at least to 15 to be able to sub for treasure hunter. You realy notice the difference in drops when you spend a full day's playtime farming. Before the price crashed I would have sugested farming crawlers in the Maze of Shakramie however they are not really worth farming anymore with the low drop rate coupled with the price droping below half what it was however it is very good news for clothcrafters

Another thing you can do is goto where Cemera the NM sheep that drops the level 10 Great Katans Rare ex btw and hunt the sheep there for sheepskins. Take some Windurst tea leaves buyable from an NPC in windurst near the town entrance. (sorry don't remember which entry) Distilled water NPC purchase almost anywhere and Dark Crystals from the AH.
Synth Dark Crystal: 1 windurst tea leaf+1 distilled water+1 Sheephide=Sheepleather which is stackable. Hunt the sheep for the most expensive ingredient the skins. Skill level is low (Cap 2) so you can do it with no skill and get a start on a craft at the same time.

Another Item that nets faster gill is doing Garison runs. I personally love the runs although you will be sitting in Rollenbery fleemarket for a week or two waiting for someone to notice your maniquin parts. (Before going to work I left myself logged in there each day for a week before my legs sold and bought Erase with my newfound gil. *was near broke again sigh*)
Last time I was really short and needed quick cash I played later at night when less players were on I hunted Stinging Sophie who's drop only netted 10k, but clearing the bee's earned me a little over 100k for a 29 thief (don't remember how many hours). I also used steal on the beastmen every time my counter came up for the beastcoins. (It's the little bits that add up more than most realize).

There is no easy route to earning gill no matter what you do it requires either constant hunting in a set aside time block or building up a craft high enough that it no longer generates you a net loss due to skillup sessions. You need valuable synths that are low enough compared to your skill to avoid costly breaks happening very often.

Flee is very useful for speeding up hunting you kill a clump of bee's and the flee to another. I'm curently aiming for 45 thief so I can get treasure hunter 2. I've found I enjoy the job, but hate the invite rate. I just took it from 29 to 33 and am hoping withh SATA that the invite rate improves.
You can also burn seals on BCNM runs, but I've never been teribly sucessful at those so I mostly Garison once in a while and hunt bee's and crawlers. Crawlers are temporarily off my list. Tried hunting Gobues in the Parsh Marshes for tree cuttings, Bohoyda Moss amnd leaches for beastman blood. the leaches may be good profit for you unfortunately on my server there is one guy that is always selling several individual as well as stacks in Bastok and Sandoria AH price history in large quanties. Whenever someone beats him to a sale he undercuts by several thousand so it isn't profitable on my server, but should be on yours unless the same item is being cornered on your srver as well. Good luck playing a mage well at high levels gets expensive.

              Re: Good Gil

Take your BLM/THF to the Kon Highlands and farm the sheep near the windmills and do what Theyaden said about crafting leather. While you are there you have a chance to kill Stray Mary if you see her pop. Mary's horn will sell for some nice gil.

You are around the level where most of the spells you need drop off of higher level monsters. I do know that Stun, Thunder II and Stone III can all be bought off npcs. Now what I don't know is if the ah is cheaper for these spells.

Hmm... 46... What was I doing for gil at 46? I don't really remember anything specific at 46, but I do know that it is good money to level a low job in Ghelsba Outpost. You kill Orcs for Fire crystals, and Funguars for Dark Crystals and 'shrooms. All sell well for good money.

Now I remember something I did at that level. I hunted in Tahrongi Canyon for Air Elementals. But that was back when Wind Clusters were actually worth something. With Aht Urhgan out, Wind Crystals are now cheaper than Earth. Along with the Elementals, I also stole from and killed Mandies for the Saruta Cotton. Excellent steal rate out there.

Along with Konschtat for sheepskins and Mary, it can also net you lightning clusters from the Thunder Elementals. Hell, kill rams too. Just be careful of Steelfleece Baldarich. You can either sell those lightning clusters or take them to Giddeus and farm necklaces, desynthing them into copper ingots which sell well. Silver beastcoins and bee chips are also nice in Giddeus. Perhaps even camp Hoo Mjuu the Torrent.

King Ranperre's Tomb can also be good money. Bats for wings, bring fire crystals to make Brass ingots: Copper x3 + Zinc or Copper ingots: Copper x4. Copper and zinc from worms. Brass is Goldmithing 9, so you'll want a little under your belt before doing that. Or screw Brass and just save the zinc for Norg fame. Some worms can also drop Ascetic's Rings (10k on Remora, last I knew). You can also kill skellies for bone chips, I imagine, but idk the droprate.

As for KRT NMs, you just got Stun at 45, so you stand an excellent chance at claiming Spook for Traveler's Mantle (80k last I knew). There's also Crypt Ghost in the Tomb Bat room at G-8. The bats are his placeholders. You'll want to kill the bats for wings and chest keys. Goblin Gruel is at H-6ish, I don't know much about him. I've only happened across him once.

When you do get a key, find a chest and hope for Battle Gloves.

If you don't like killing worms, just use them and lose them. Run-by Aspiring is great. Occasionally, one will land a Bind, but it wears quick. That and they are weak.

I see that you are BLM46 now. I suggest you get a Mandibular Sickle and skill it up. I LOVE mine. I had a friend tell me to put it away, BLMs don't use Scythes. Then he saw my damage and said, "Oh nevermind." I love using it for farming.

And yes, I know that Spook and Goblin Gruel aren't technically NMs.

Mining. I did a lot of mining from 40 to 60. Zeruhn is a good starter mining spot. It can support 2 miners easily, perhaps even 3 miners at once. You can use that place to toy with a mining macro, and get comfortable with figuring out routes between groups of mining points.

At your level, you can also safely mine in Palborough and Yughott Grotto. Palborough is hard to cover on your own, but works quite nicely with 1 or 2 other miners. Yughott is fairly easy on you even if you're the only one there.

I don't remember if you'll have no aggro in Gusgen at 46. But one advantage you has as BLM in there is that you have Escape, which can very handy for getting back to the entry floor.

At 50, you could try mining in Oldton. You'll need invis though for certain moblins and bombs. It's tricky mining a spot right next to a bomb, and be able to get invis back up without drawing magic aggro. It becomes much safter at 58.

Quoted to keep high levels off Vomp Hill.

Vomp Hill is a very popular leveling spot for lowbies working on a new job. It just gets increasingly frustrating when a person is trying to gain exp and you have people as high as level 75 killing absolutely everything except the worms up there. Since starting over, every time I've been up on Vomp Hill leveling, I would see 4 or 5 other soloers in my exp range and about 3 high levels killing things a little too quickly.

If you want the stupid katana from the sheep, just wait at the spawn spot and let us lowbies gain our exp while we kill off the place holders for you.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant but it's such a nice spot to level on since it's so close to the city for zoning goblin links or needing to quickly empty your inventory while leveling.

Omg... the marshlands used to be easy to farm in. The competition was always light, and usually just someone there for a single stack who would then vanish and leave you to your own devices. They were also polite, and I would tend to camp the other leech spot if there was 2 or more in the one I prefer.

But, within the past couple of weeks there has been a single nin/war there 24/7 with very little exception. Txke. A blatant gilseller, I have a pretty good suspicion that he's botting, but with the way SE turns a blind eye, I see no point in doing much about it. I can tell people his name, or w/e. He had a monopoly on blood last I looked too. Every last one on the history was sold from him to someone else. Only interaction I've had with him was him /laugh and I said "See something you like, Gilseller?" to which I obviously never got a reply.

He's cut the price so that the time it takes to get a stack isn't really worth it anymore and I doubt I'll bother farming it until he's gone (which would require divine intervention) or the price rebounds on its own.

I don't remember when I started it, but I sometimes like to go down to Korroloka Tunnel and hunt the Morion Worm. That tathlum is pretty good money. They move well, too. People are always making earrings. In between spawns, which is only 15 minutes, you can farm slime oils off the Jellies.

Morion Worm also drops Darksteel Ore.

                          Re: Good Gil

Now is actually a pretty good time to camp Morion Worm if you plan on doing that, IMO. After that patch broke the targetting of the ??? there, a lot of the bots and gilselling mules stopped working him as hard. It's just recently been fixed, so if you camp one point for awhile, you have a pretty decent chance of finding it before they do.

Another downside to Vomp Hill in South Gustaberg is that the exp range solo there is reasonable way up until lvl 15 on many jobs, (something I take full advantage of when levelling my tarutaru melee jobs or anything with already capped skills), so sheep get very popular during weekends.

Stray Mary's pop location, by comparison, is reasonably fast and most of us don't train farm the whole spawn region at once, (something I don't recommend as once one of us starts doing that it becomes real hard to find sheep up). Sheep go down reasonably fast, drop skins pretty often, as well as the odd stack of teeth, which don't sell to badly themselves for the ease of farming, (sell in Windurst for best results). Another thing to watch for in this area is the Shadow NM that pops during the New Moon, he drops Rogetsurin, a Rare/Ex chakram that is real useful if you ever decide to level THF, NIN, or BLU later.

Has anyone suggested farming Dhalmels yet? Their drops do not stack, so you may want to level leather crafting a bit if you go for hides, but they're used in a lot of things. For instance, Giant Femurs sell pretty consistently in Bastok, as no one can make a Xiphos to test for their Smithing Rank without one.

                              Re: Good Gil

I've only been on Vomp Hill a few times and it was deserted on each one. I guess Garuda server doesn't gravitate there as much or I was around at a dead time. The only reason I can see for train farming is for a character using AOE spells it doesn't take any longer to kill a mob on the spot as opposed to training it and killing each one after gathering. Not to mention the depop issue. Personally I just shake my head when I see wariors training things (Usually crawlers outside windy since they'll do better killing each mob as they reach it.)
As a matter of courtesy I agree that if someone is xping I'll go somewhere else. On a more practical note great farming spots become merely ok if you and someone else are killing the same mobs. Which brings me to the last point I personally I've never understood 75th level characters farming in the 1-10 level zones. At that level you can squish mobs in higher level zones containing less farming competition filling your inventory more quickly.

Note: I did try synthing Wind or lightning crystal (Forget which) 3 beehive chips=beehive wax. If you want to raise alchemy it's worthwhile it garnered fast skillups, but 1 stack of these was less than the 3 stacks of beehive chips you give up and took forever to sell.
Just a warning regarding the least profitable synth I've ever done. Good luck all

Had anyone been xping there I would have been more than happy to let them kill the placeholders. NM camping is not my favorite thing to do in game. I'ld rather be wandering around scouting zones, xping, or crafting rather than being tied to a hill, but the sword was definately worth it. level 10 Great Katana with strength and dex boost. I'm glad SE made it rare ex or it would not be practical to camp it against botters.
If I'm farming in a lower area and someone is xping I'll watch the person for a few fights to see what their hunting so I can leave mob alone or move to another area if there are not enough for both. Since as a farmer I'ld be higher level than those xping I have a few more options of where to go and prefer the areas that are shunned at that moment.
