Please i can't connect to Playonline Viewer this message shows everytime i try to connect to playonline viewer

2070 � unknown connect error. No known fix at this time.
Are you running a firewall? Could that be blocking Pol's Internet connection? (windows firewall by default blocks pol and router's also have firewalls)

I'm very pleased that someone actually replied me, i posted this problem in over 3 forums and noone replied me.

Like as i said if i want to go in playonline viewer i get the error2070 msg i've to try like 1-40 times it's just random, you said i've to turn off my firewall i did that and i tried to connect and i went in so smoothly from first time! i was like oh my problem is solved.. but i wanted to make sure i logged out tried again and sigh.. i got the 2070 error.. so that was just one of the random tries.. oh and rarely i get 0003 message error

i turned off my antivirus and all protections and i get same problem..
i'm running Eset Nod32 Protection so if you can tell me what to do..

And in firewall of windows setting playonline wasn't added to the exceptions so i add playonline viewer/Ffxi/FFXI config/Tetra/Tetra Config

And same problem....god sake whats happening

The problem is i can Connect but i've to try 1-40 times do i've to do this everytime i go in?

I click on my username .. type password..click connect.. > connect again and i get msg..
theres no Retry button so i can retry retry until i get online no theres only Exit button..

and about adding ports how this could be done?

I think it's from my protection because first when i bought this there was a protection i get this msg error too.. after that i got other problems so i went and formatted my pc.. the person who formatted i think he forget to install a protection programme for me i called him i say theres no protection but he say that he installed one he just never say that he forget because if he did i wouldn't pay the 20$ for the format, but at same time when i try to loggin Playonline i go in so smoothly because there was no protection.. because he forget the protection i received many viruses so i formatted my pc again and this time i confirmed him that he should install a protection..

so after what happend i think it's from the protection... should i uninstall it..? but i'll receive more viruses like before..

Isn't there a Check Files option in the login screen?

Yes, as soon as the program loads, the fifth option down is Check Files. I would suggest using this if at all possible.

I do beleive that Check Files will locate and rewrite any .dat's you may have changed, returning them to their defaults. I also beleive that some .dats do cause programming glitches and bog processor speed.

I Checked Playonline Viewer, Tetra Master no problems found, though i don't know where Final Fantasy IX is i mean shouldn't i find it in Checking List ? Playonline Viewer, Tetra Master and Final Fantasy IX?

or maybe after i download the big update?

I wish we could give a “we know how to fix this post” but there is unfortunately no information for troubleshooting this error code. And How do you connect to the Internet? Dialup DSL?

The only 3 things that come to my mind is a virus, Hardware(setings/problem) or you ISP just plain sucks

Do you use Spybot SD or Ad-Aware Personal? (Spyware Blaster is also a good protection program) Its slightly off topic but you wanted protection.

And has your computer done any thing else weird lately? Have you had any other Internet connection problems?

And no your virus checker is a fine program that personally I would like to use but I am to cheep. Zonealarm (firewall) is free for home use and is about the quickest software firewall to set up.(ill leave the port setings to another post)

And sorry for not getting back sooner.
The Check files function is a good idea btw its in the pol login screen.

i connect through a DSL


actually the service is DSL but we use Router cables because we have more than 1 pc,


i don't think it's a virus or anything because i just formatted my PC so it's clean,

i don't think it's from my protection when i click on it , it says "NOD32 Antivirus System" so i don't think antivirus has anything to do with Blocking connections to Playonline right?

firewall = windows' so if i can get anyone's settings who is able to get into FFXI w/o any problems , my settings are this

Ok the quick way to troubleshoot this may be to hook the pc that ffxi is going 2 be played with directly to the modem. Router's tend to have built in firewalls and geting that out of the loop might be a good idea.(just for a few mins)

And personally the only things wrong with your firewall set up right now is it allowing too much stuff. (personally I like NOD32 Antivirus im just to cheep to buy my own copy)

Hopefully its the router thats giveing you fits

While i try this could you please tell me how to open ports ? i just called a GM he said you've to open ports in your router :

Make sure the following ports are open on your router/firewall:
-TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
-UDP 50000 - 65535

how to open these ports?

Windows firewall automatically opens what ever ports the program on your list uses. (its a good thing and a very bad thing)

Now if its the router causeing the problem then the documantation that came with it should have directions on opening ports. If you lost then or they tell you nothing then post the model of your router

Ok i'm confused, First i format my computer and i'm able to connect to playonline without any problems, then because the person who formatted the pc for me forgot to install the protection, i recieved alot of viruses, so i formatted it again and then now i'm not able to connect to playonline properly using the same connection though.., so do you think it's from my router connection,ports or anything? i really don't think so .. theres weird thing happening..

Want full story? ok here it is, First i bought this computer and i installed FFXI and i get this Error message 2070 too! and i can get in but i've to try alot, when i try to play it says theres no FFXI in hardware and stuff i contacted alot of gms.. but they unable to solve the problem anyways i received a virus that reboot my PC automaticlly endlessly so i went and formatted it, after i got it back i installed FFXI and I DIDNT have ANy problems ! neither in connecting or Playing! but! he forgot to install the protection, i recieved alot of viruses .. went again and formatted it .. brought it back and installed FFXI and i got the Error message but the game is working it doesn't say theres no FFXI.. after all that do you think the protection is the problem? because i'm going to uninstall

Personally I would uninstall nod32 for right now and try kaspersky and use it to run a full virus check on your pc. (just in case)

I completely understand how hard this stuff and to figure out heck I have had stuff that has taken a month to completely figure out (thank you e machines) But unfortunately all any of us can do is take our best guess at it.

Its not the best anti virus im using avast (free for home use) and I have not had any (major) problems with it, but I read somewhere ffxi uses a port that a known virus also uses.
But at least we have (mostly) ruled out your ISP or your equipment


And after this is all done lets work on configuring the fire wall so you get less viruses and Internet problems over all.

(I think we are getting closer and again sorry for not posting quicker)

Ok honestly i'm very satisfied with my current protection it's useful and it update everytime itself, everyday i get (virus update successful) and by uninstalling it i'll put my computer again into risk.

And i don't have it's setup/installation nor Registeration code or anything.

I already paid 5kd to reformat it which it's 14$ in us, actually the 5k is for the protection not for reformatting .. everyone now knows how to reformat his computer by himself.

I'll try to wait until i get my visa card , that's on sunday i'm calm now because either way i can't play the game, but til then i'll be berserked if the same problem occurrs.
