This question is the sole reason why I made this account so here it goes
What do you guys recommend for a sub-class where the main-class is a ninja. If you have and answer please explain why you said that.

There are different options for a sub to NIN, but I think they're all situational.

Warrior - The standard. As a NIN you'll be expected to tank, and occasionally (way later on) you can DD. Until 37 it's best to duo-tank, however.

Black Mage or Red Mage - I used this for solo purposes only at 61. BLM sub + Magic Attack bonus gear + elemental staves + elemental ninjutsu is really good solo exp (highest I ever earned was close to 5k/hour). This is kind of expensive though, and really only a situational use. You also don't use it early on since you want the Magic Attack Bonus traits from the BLM sub.

Ranger - I don't know how it is now, but pre-RNG patch you could put up very respectable DD numbers with a RNG sub.

All of the others are rather blah really, and don't really offer much from what I have seen.

Ninja subjob in xp party as tank is /war, ninja DD in a xp party can sub /blm if you use elemental wheel at 40 but people still go with /war incase stuff happen to main tank.

Outside of xp party you can sub whatever you want.
