Some general questions about FFXI European/US Differances

I have 3 big questions that have been on my mind the past few days, so I was really wondering if you could answer them for me.

1) Do European and US players get to play on the same servers? Games like World of Warcraft have differant servers for people who bought differant versions of the game (which I dislike, since I think every player should have the right to choose who they play with). Also, are there any extra servers that only Americans get or something?

2) If I buy the American version of FFXI, can I use a European-based credit card to pay for the bills? Again, if you buy the American versions of World of Warcraft or The Sims Online, they require you to use only an American credit card to pay for the monthly bills. You can't use a European-based credit card. I guess they made it that way to stop users from Europe playing on the American-only servers. Is this the same for FFXI, or can I use any credit card?

3) Are there any differances between the American and European versions of FFXI? Like, does the American version have any extra areas/weapons/stages/features, etc. that were later removed from the European version? Or are they exactly identical? Any subtle differances in the European version? Basically, what's thje differance between the two?

The reason I'm asking all these questions is because I currently own the European version of FFXI, but I don't want to use it cause' I'm not sure if it has the same restrictions kinda like World of Warcraft does. Where ONLY people who bought the American version of the game could play on American servers with American players, and whatnot. I'm seriously considering importing the US version of FFXI, so I need an answer to these questions. Thanks!

Dont mater what version you have, all people play together. The only think you need to worrie is in what server play.

there are many importers that live in america and bought the japanese version, there are european people playing US and JP version too, and i doubt they have a problem with 'american' or 'european' credit cards.. no such thing in ff, just give them a way to get their bills, they dont care where the money comes from lol

US/JP/EU versions are all the exact same thing, what changes is the language, nothing else, does changing stuff in different versions make any sense? does that happen in WOW? i wouldnt be suprisded, since its such a low game.

ffxi has no silly restrictions like those inferior games you refered to.

Don't worry, I'm European and have been playing since US release. I imported the US version first, but switched to the European after CoP came out. The only trouble I had with that was that I couldn't unlock the new areas with an EU code on an NA ID, so I had to get an NA code extra.In other words, if you already have an NA ID, stick with the US version.

If you're starting afresh, there is no reason to. Game-wise, there are absolutely no differences between the two versions, you play on the same [international - JP/NA/EU] servers and you can pay with any credit card as long as it's Visa or Master.

WoW isn't a silly game. It's really good, actually. It's just as good as FFXI. And, the ONLY restriction WoW has is European players and American players are on differant servers. That's it. Everything else is identical in every way. They did that because otherwise, EVERYONE would want to play on the American servers, and they would quickly get swamped and bogged-down. Other than that, it's an excellent game. Just as good as FFXI.
