I've been away from FFXI for a pretty long time so i'm kinda relearning the stuff I forgot.

I remember the first time around playing i'd always target monsters by jamming the "tab" button. I got some advice along the way to just target the party's "red" monster. The thing is I don't think it was <bt>...maybe it was a macro I made to auto-target. Well, if anyone knows about anything like this i'd greatly appreciate the info.

Do not use anything along the lines of:

/ma "Any damage or damage over time spell" <bt>
        /a <bt>
        /range <bt>

<bt> applies to the monster that most recently became claimed by your party. ie. if your puller uses a ranged attack to pull a monster but gets an add along the way, your BRD, RDM or BLM will sleep the add. In this case, <bt> will apply to the slept monster which you want to leave well alone, and "/a <bt>" will wake it up.

        I personally use:

        /ta <bt>

That targets the <bt> but leaves me to decide which action to perform.
