Do chest and coffers give you the key item needed for ones artifact quest?

I have to get gauntlets for my PLD job, and I know that all hand armor artifact type is gained by the same type of quest. And was wondering if I can get my key item by opening a chest?

Treasure chests give you gil and a rare item from that dungeon. Treasure coffers are for af and super rare items. To get AF from the coffers,you must have AF 1 completed and the AF Gloves quest logged. After that you can open coffers for you AF in specific dungeons. WHM AF coffers are in Beaudux,Garledge Citidel, and Crawlers Nest. Good luck. ^^

If I remember right, once you hit 52 and you have AF1 complete, you go talk to Guslam in upper jeuno, he will give the coffer AF quest and the Dark Spark AF quest as well. I think the normal paladin coffers are Garlaige and Beaduex, but the coffer for your gloves would be Eldieme Necropolis ; ;. After you get the key item from the Eld. Necro coffer you just go to Zvahl Castle Bailey, kill Dark Spark (very easy) get the key item and take it to ??? at the Port Jeuno AH.

For the Gallant Gauntlets, you must first accept a quest given to you by Guslam in Upper Jeuno. He is in the armory shop. In order to be given this quest, you have to have completed your AF1 quest (when you were in your early 40s). After you've spoken to him and accepted the quest, you have to find the coffer that has an old pair of rusty gauntlets. For Paladin, that coffer happens to be in Eldieme Necropolis. The key is dropped by Tomb Mages, Tomb Warriors, Haunts, and Spriggans. I recommend fighting the Mages and Warriors (skeletons). Once you get the key, you need to find the coffer and open it. You will receive the old rusty gauntlets. After you get those gauntlets, you need to click on a "???" point in Port Jeuno in the downstairs area just outside of the Durable Shields shop (you click on one of the crates basically). You'll get a cut scene with Bolghertz, who asks you to bring him a Shadow Flame to make the old gauntlets new again. You then have to go to Castle Zvahl Baileys in Xarcabard and touch a torch to fight a bomb called "Dark Spark". After you kill Dark Spark and click the torch again, you'll get the shadow flames. Go back to the "???" in Port Jeuno again and click it and you'll get your artifact gauntlets.
