Where can I find the location of my macros?

  • Where can I find the location of my macros?

    Yet again Norton Anti-virus has destroyed my PC and I had to re-install Windows to get it to boot, so this will be the 8th maybe 9th time I have had to rewrite my 100+ macros which frankly is becoming a bit frustrating.

    Can somebody please tell me where my macro files are stored and I will e-mail them to myself for safe keeping.

    The macros can be a little troubling to find if you have multiple characters (but you can always back up every macro for every character). But the path is...
    <Where you installed FFXI>\USER\<number>\mcr<n>.dat

    <FFXI> is where you installed FFXI, which is usually C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI (or something to that effect...)

    <number> is a hexadecimal number (using 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f). There is one of these folders for every saved character information.

    <n> is the macro set number. For instance, the first macro set would be mcr.dat, second is mcr1.dat, etc. I am unsure what mcr.sys does, unfortunately.

    I think it would be best to back up all of this folder (USER\<number>) for it also contains your settings for font colors, what to filter out, etc. But I can agree: setting new macros isn't fun.
