  • Stuck in Kazham - what would you do?

Two weeks ago my lvl 30 Thief/Ninja stood in Kazham on a Saturday - all day without a party invite, i didn't do anything else other than stand there because i was playing games on my other PC while i was waiting.

I know that it would help if i asked leaders if i could join them when they have space but what else can i do to get a party in Kazham? I've not played for two weeks as that day really put me off playing as you can imagine.
Do you think standing in Kazham is the best place? Or maybe i should stand in one of the jungles and wait? That is a little risky though with all the goblins running around, especially as im doing other things other than stare at the screen all day.

This is my first major stumbling block in the game so far so any advice would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you.

Try heading to the Jungle in the next zone and looking around there but my understanding people leave there around 30-32 anyway. I've asked similar questions and people seem to think Garliage is good to 35'ish then head to Crawler's Nest. I'm at this point myself so when I find out more I'll let you know.

yeah but garliage isn't gonna work at 30...

just stick it out 1 day without invites doesn't mean your not gonna get any...

theres always varying trends in lower lvl places... a pt either needs mages or they need melee's and if you didn't get picked it was just cause of the ppl currently in kazham

don't set with seek all day... seek 30 minutes... do something else... seek about 2-3 hours later

If I'm having a really hard time finding a party and I want to maximize my odds of getting in one, what I tend to do is set my home point as close as possible to one popular hunting area for my current level, then I travel to a different area that's close to a different hunting area for my level (preferably someplace where I can farm something for decent gil while I wait).

I put in my search comment a line that reads {Warp} > {Home Point}: {Location}. If you don't have a level 17 BLM with Warp and ready access to a moogle for job change, you'll have to buy a scroll of instant warp from a conquest guard, of course.

So for example, with my level 18 BLM, what I do is set my Home Point in Selbina and then go to North Gustaberg and farm beehive chips, and I put {Warp} > {Home Point}: {Selbina} in my search comment. This way I am a reasonable candidate for invites to both the Korroloka Tunnel (my preferred hunting area at this level) and Valkurm Dunes (less preferred because the creatures are harder and the players generally less savvy, but at least the parties that invite me are savvy enough to look at my search comment.)

From what I can tell, Japanese players usually like to form parties in Jeuno as opposed to the hunting areas themselves, but I imagine that's more the case at level 40ish+, when most people have an airship pass.

I'd look for a party in Jeuno, honestly. There are still other alternatives to Yuhtunga and Yhoator jungles. Those places didn't even exist in the game until Zilart expansion came out. Before that, people leveled up in Batallia Downs or Sauromugue Champaign. Some people still level in those places, especially Batallia Downs. At least looking for a party in Jeuno gives you the flexibility to join a party in either location for EXP. Standing around IN the jungles probably isn't the wisest idea. When you go into a dungeon or remote area and THEN start looking for a party, you're more likely to pick up a PT that has lost a player or two and just wants that last level up before they go. So the party isn't too likely to last very long. That's a common trend, not necessarily what WILL happen. But you'll find a lot of dead end or short-lived parties this way.

If you still continue to NOT get party invites, then maybe you should do a little searching yourself. Get to know the search engine. Maybe you can find others who are standing around waiting for an invite if they'd like to group together. I've stumbled upon WHM's and RDM's that were my level and were looking for a group. Hook up with one and start looking for other players that look to be good. Then choose where you want to go.

a large majority of the american people lvling in that lvl range will stick with the jungle...

and a large majority will invite the theif already in the jungle before they will the one seeking in jeuno...

and when i lvled my monk through that portion seeking in jeuno never resulted in a single invite... whereas jungle = pt less than 30 minutes everytime...

              just my opinion

this game is all about waiting for PT or you better start your own PT and yet you have to wait for certain job to log in to put together a good PT. if you can't wait 5-10 hours a day i suggest you quit the game now. Jeuno wall will be the next big thing you'll have to face everyday sitting in front of you PC.

the 3 big issues i found why its so hard to find PT in FFXI.
                1. Melee Jobs are more than Mage Jobs.
                2. Level cap vs Xp.
                3. NA vs JP.

there are so many other places to go lvl than in khazam... when I got my first job up to 40, I didn't even go there from 24-32 due to the fact that 90% of the NA population didn't have the airship pass at that time.. I ended up lvling with jpn and other NA people in batallia and attepe... IMHO, xp is much better at those places even tho a bit more dangerous.. but they're also easier to get back to town after the PT is over.. Yhoator to khazam is always dangerous journey if your PT breaks up and are left with only 3 or 4 people to deal with the gobs, etc on the way back to khazam..

if you have seek up in Jeuno, you're more likely to get into a PT that is just forming, or get invites to other PTs elsewhere and not just limited to Khazam area... put something up in your search comments if you have the khazam airpass or any gate crystals that you have...

If I was starting a PT in Jeuno, I wouldn't even bother asking someone in a dungeon or at the location where we are going to go to.. unless I was really desperate.. I would assume that person is on his or her way to a PT there already.

                      /\/\ lol

I hate Kazham for this reason... it's almost as bad as the Dunes if not worse. Cause once you find a pt you have to find a Camp site where other people wont come and sit on your head.

I do a variation on this.

I just reply "ok ^^" or "hai ^^".

It works pretty well, I mostly only exp with jp groups.

I didn't read all the reply just the first post so if someone has ready said this ignore this post then.

At 30 you are ready for East Altepa Desert, if you haven't got a teleport crystal yet go from Bastok > Zeruhn Mine > Korrolaka Tunnel > East Altepa Desert. (go the way you normally go to the Ninja quest area, but before the last turn that lead to the bogy, fall down into the main tunnel where slime and spider are; avoid the slime they aggro)

Go to the signet NPC and camp there, it is near a zone to the West Altepa Desert. Nothing aggro around there except when someone train antican to you or elemental pop. In that case just zone to the other side. At 30 you can lvl on bettle till like 34. But at 33 you might get more weak bettle that give you like 80 exp rather than 150+ like you normally do. At 35 you are ready for dhamel there too. The bettle, spider, dhamel don't aggro but they link so becareful.

For party don't get paladin tanker

                          You should get warr/ninja or ninja/warr and a ranger/ninja

The ranger can get hate with his/her attack but will have blink to protect him/her for 3 hits until the warr get provoke to pull back or you trick/sneak on the warr/ninja.

                          my previous party there:

2 warr/ninja 1 ninja/warr 1 bard 1 blm 1 whm (the whm complain he got nothing to do lol) got warr to 34

1 ninja/warr 1 ranger/ninja 1 sam/warr 2 blm 1 whm (whm was healing the sam/warr when he get hate because he was going crazy with ws, but we don't mind) got sam to 34

                          1 warr/ninja 1 ranger/ninja 1 thf/ninja 1 blm 2 whm (the whm mostly nuke too) got thf to 33

All these party get 3k+ a hour sometime 4k depending on how many strong mob are out there.

Most new players I bought there said it is their best exp party ever.

                          Hope that help^^

My suggestion to players who find it hard to get an invite, start your own damn party! There are almost always 3-10 people seeking in Kazham at peak hours. Grab your self some melee and a WHM or a RDM/WHM and youll be all set. Ive rarely seen party members ask the leader to leave the party so youll be all set. And if you can manage to snap up a WHM anyone and everyone will join you. Thats the first thing you here when starting a party there, whats level spread and do you have a WHM yet? But I do feel for the thieves out there, I dont know how many times Ive been leading a party and the 6th slot needs to be filled and theres a perfect thief available, but everyone in the party is like, NO dont get the thief!

Kazahm (Yuhtunga/Yhoator) used to be the last place you could expect to reasonably get a party invite outside of Jeuno.

That was the case when I was leveling my DRG.

Now, it seems this practice has been extended to Crawler's Nest, if not beyond. I saw people today LFG sitting around the testicle room in CN. Amazing.

In any case, at your level:

Sit with seek up in Kazahm. You can sit in Jeuno, but as has been said before, most Elshimo groups will take someone in Kazahm over someone in Jeuno, unless you're a critical job like a WHM.

Battalia and Sauromugue work, but there are very few parties that level there anymore. At least that's the case on my server. You'll have higher chances of getting an Elshimo party, for which you should be sitting in Kazahm, not Jeuno.

Altepa is good also, but good luck finding a party that's going there. The only parties you'll find heading for Altepa are those consisting mainly of high-level veterans who are leveling secondary jobs or subjobs. Such parties are rather uncommon.
