1. From the menu displaed rightward, select party configuration (?uƒp?[ƒeƒB•Ò?¬?v)
2. From the popped up menu, you had better select language preference (?uŒ¾Œê?Ý’è?v), select 'only English' (?u‰pŒê‚Ì‚Ý?v) or even 'both of English and Japanese ' (?u“ú–{Œê‚ƉpŒê?v) if you dare.
3. From the same list, select (?uƒp?[ƒeƒBŽQ‰ÁŠó–]?v) and your name will be displayed in purple color with an exclamation mark, indicating you want to join in a party.
4. If someone ask you to join in a party, the log '?u*****‚Ƀp?[ƒeƒB‚Ö‚Ì—U‚¢‚ðŽó‚¯‚Ü‚µ‚½?B?v' is displayed. Then from the menu select party configuration (?uƒp?[ƒeƒB•Ò?¬?v) again. This time, the popped up menu asks you if you wanna join in the party, and displays options of Yes or No (?u“ü‚é?v or ?u“ü‚ç‚È‚¢?v?j.?@
5. Select Yes and join in the party! Have fun!

Okay, about PTs, you most likely won't be asked to join a PT unless you're about level 7 or so, so level up solo for a while, and then when you reach around there, do as Eriwilde suggested. If you speak Japanese, it's a plus, because what usually happens, is a person will /tell (direct chat) you and ask if you would like to join their PT and stuff like that. Usually something like, "PT‚_‚݂܂¹‚ñ?H" or "‚¢‚Á‚µ‚å‚ɃŒƒxƒ‹?ã‚°‚µ‚Ü‚¹‚ñ?H" kind of thing.. reply to them by entering command "/tell [person] message" and then they'll send you the ?u*****‚Ƀp?[ƒeƒB‚Ö‚Ì—U‚¢‚ðŽó‚¯‚Ü‚µ‚½?B?v As soon as you see this, follow Eriwilde's post =)
A tiny follow up to what was said above. When you reply to a /tell just do CTRL R. So press control on your keyboard and hold then press R and the name of the person who lasted /told you will show up.
to make PT, just invite someone. if they join then boom you will become a PT leader with 1 member.

but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.
