  • Question about Ghelsba/Grotto

    Sorry if this seems like a rather n00bish question... but I get kinda lost in Yughott Grotto O_o;;

    First of all, I've only been in this Ghelsba/Grotto area once, so I am not familiar with it at all. Currently I am trying to find a place with more tier 3 Orcs (Fighters, Shamans, Sergeants)... but I only see a few in Fort Ghelsba, and a few in the first area of Yughott Grotto.

    However, when I look at map sites and even the official strategy guide, I notice there seems to be more than one map for Yughott Grotto. But when I searched the main one (the diagonal map), I couldn't find any exit to another Yughott Grotto, only 2 exits to Fort Ghelsba and one exit to Ghelsba Outpost.

    So my question is: Where is the best place to find these tier 3 Orcs; and if it is other areas in Grotto, how do I get there? Is Davoi any good for this as well? Thanks in advance.
    I believe in karma. Anyone I treat badly probably deserved it.

    if you're high enought to fight orc searjeants, you might want to go to Valkurm for better exp...i'm assuming you're at least lv 14.

    Go to valkurm dunes through la theine plateau (it's a long walk) and look for a party there. Make sure you're at least lv 14 thought, or it's really hard to find a party.

    fight hares and goblins.

      Ah, I should have cleared this up. I'm not doing this for exp ^^

      I'm level 30, and I'm doing this for Shaman Garlics (I couldn't find any in AH... checked all sections, no Shaman Garlic ><), Ghelsba key (for khazam pass) and some good ol' gilfarming.

        J-8 at fort ghelsba
        the hut there usually has 2 tier 3 orcs, the hidden route behind the hut brings you to the grotto with tier 3 orcs

          Yughott Grotto has 2 areas, and they are not connected to each other. You don't even need to go through the first one to reach the second one, you can go from Ghelsba Outpost directly to Fort Ghelsba and from there directly to the higher level part of Yughott Grotto.

          Although I'm only level 16, I passed through there with the help of some higher level guild mates on the way to Horlais Peak, to do the Generals Secret quest. And fortunately we found a Ghelsba key for me while clearing the way there.

          I'm not sure that Valkrum dunes have better xp. Yes, all dungeons are a bit more dangerous, due to confined space causing adds. But I've seen as many as 140 players in Valkrum, and when all the "good spots" there are taken or contested, its not really that great any more. I made lots of xp in Outpost and Fort Ghelsba, and I noticed that far less people go there, and its always easy to find a mob to fight.

            Ah, thanks for the responses guys, I found that other section of the Grotto.

            However, I was insanely disappointed, since there were no fewer than TWENTY people there already... more camped than the Giddeus tier 3 area! Ah well, that's enough Ghelsba for me, I managed to find a key, and that area isn't good for farming at all... you'll find a tier 3 orc maybe once every 5 minutes that isn't camped o_o ....then someone will try to steal it from ya

              The camping varies a lot in Ghelsba. I've had good luck there, unlike in Giddeus where the camping is almost always intense. I went there for keys with with 3 LS mates and we had all the fighters/serjeants/cursemakers to ourselves for at least an hour. Also, as far as I know only Cursemakers drop shaman garlic, and it's marked EX I believe.
