Combat skill levels

Well currently i am playing beta with a lvl 14 war. And right now im using a claymore becuase i like the way they look. Becuase this is beta im kinda just fooling around or i would be using an axe, spear, great axe, or something used alot in renkie. When i end up getting the full version, i plan on having a paladin / warrior. When i become a paladin i will work mostly on my 1 handed sword skill. Im pretty sure that when you start a new job, your combat skills start from zero for that job. What i want to know is if i sub war, will my war's combat skills have any effect on my paladin. Becuase if they do then i plan to get my war's 1 handed sword skill very high to help out my paladin. But if it doesnt i will work more on axes.

Your skills will carry over from job to job, so if you level one-handed sword as a WAR and switch to PLD you will still have all the weapon skill you leveled in your previous job. So no, there is no need to re-level a weapon skill if you've leveled it in the past with a different job already.
