Well, the next time you're joking, at least finish the same post by saying, "Just kidding. lol!" or something along those lines. Don't just leave it at that. I forgive you, but next time, read what you're typing, please :\

That's quite alright, man. I'm not the kind of guy to hold a grudge, and you didn't mean what you said, so I think nothing of it now.
On another note, I'm still having trouble deciding if I should get FFXI or not. I mean, I really want to play this game, but then again, it is $100 and the monthly fee on top of it. I don't want to spend all this money and find out I won't be able to keep paying the fee all the time. What do you guys think I should do?
And no, no real chance my parents can pay for it, and I'm only 16, so I can't do credit. I have no job, and I'm 'po

Hmm, Im kinda in the same situation as you....I want this game so so bad, and the 100$ fee is pretty bad, plus the monthly fee....and on topa that, my dad hates the fact that I like games. He swears that when I get a car, I will forget about video games forever," Yeah but dad, look at these graphics....this isn't model airplanes, like when you were a teen." Im kinda scared to ask him for the monthly fee thing, I have a job, its just that, well he doesn't like the fact, and I have to ask him for a credit card...to play video games...it doesn't look good. In your case, I, and this is just me, cuz I want the game so bad, I would somehow pay the 100$ for the game, then mow lawns to cover the monthly fee....but hey, I have been living off of journals.

If you think about it $100 isn't that bad. You're getting FFXI wich is $50, the expansion has to be at least $20, and the HDD wich is more than $50. I thought the HDD alone was going for around $100 when it was released in Japan, but I read that on Gamefaqs years ago when all of this was first released.
On topic: I'm going to start with an Elvaan and go for Paladin and Bard as my main jobs. I might make a Galka Dark Knight as well. I had a role play story for the Galka involving the Anticons and how the Galka lost thier home in Altepa, but there are so many melee characters all ready I've decided to start as an Elvaan Paladin. I have a friend from EQOA and friend in real life that will be playing about as much as I will and we're going to try and keep our characters at the same level and mission rank so its easier to PT togather. I plan to join an HNM LS eventually and keep a journal on the forums.

freewebs is not going so well. Unlike geocities, you must upload each item one at a time at freewebs. I'm figuring out whether a zip file will work though.
You can't start out as a paladine (sorry, you can only do the quest at level 30). The monthly fee is $12.95 a month.Booya Grandma Booya

I personally find it a lot easier and better if you choose a lower-class job (WAR, MNK, WHM, BLM, RDM) and just keep on working on it until level 74, because then you won't have to start all over at level 1 and have a much harder time leveling a new character after being used to another one for so long.
I have, of course, experienced this, when I switched from WAR/WHM to DRK/WHM. I know where to go and all, but I just felt this feeling of just recently starting up a new game of FFXI. I went to the same areas, fought the same creatures, and built up my character. But if I could do it all over again, I'd probably still be a WAR/WHM, because I wasted most of my beta time leveling my character and not interacting with the other worlds. I was stuck in Bastok for most of my character's career. Sure, a lot of people wanted me in their parties, but I probably could have still been successful with a level 70 WAR/WHM.
Anyway, that's one of the reasons I like MNK so much, is that it keeps getting interesting down the line. DRK basically only added some melee damage onto my sword and a few weapon skills - big deal. I was already building up scythe and great sword good with a WAR, so it was no big deal. I hope to work up to a lvl 75/37 MNK/WAR in a matter of months, because I did it before. This time I hope I can have a better experience then before.
