    Re: Clothcraft 101

Hmm... yeah I thought about that aslo... the saving for later skill ups. The prices are just sky rocketing and if they keep this up there is no way I can even thing of being able to buy stuff later. I mean right now one spider web is going for 35k and I wouldn't doubt that they be 40-50k each in a month. So yup I'm just saving everything I have now, and actually been looking ahead and buying stuff I'll need in the future now and storing it on mules while they are still relatively cheap. And hmmm... i guess as far as the synth of that VC goes... use your own judgement. When I made this one that someone had commissioned me to make.... I had just dinged the lvl cap for it hehe.

Edit: Um... silk thread stacks are going for 90k on our server atm... how does this compare to your servers??

i can make some good money, after a little research

there are good ways to get some synth materials much cheaper then AH and without farming

saving all rainbow´s would mean for me a huge loss
i`m everytime comparing, whats the best for time/money wise
there are simple formulas, each synth 30 seconds, each synth gils profit
comparing then making the items, buying them gives me the right answere.

another question for me is atm, i`ve got the items for a v.cloak, should i try my luck with 10 level over cap?

Symrustar, I'm pretty certain that you would want to save your Rainbow Cloth for later skilling up. With the way the economy has been working out, things are bound to jump up in prices when your going to need the Rainbow Cloth later (around after 90+). So selling it now and then having to waste extra time or extra money (if you buy from the AH when you need skill up after 90) doesn't sound like a wise choice.

This is just my opinion though.

actually crafting anything on Midgar is usually a total loss unless u farm all the materials. The only real way to make money with it is if you HQ something.... which sucks. And Hurray now I'll have money again to continue to lvl hehe ^^

wow rainbow cloth is about 1.5m on our server

with 81 and + support/items you should be fine with hakamas.

i`n neraly 78 now, levling doesen`t hurt (money wise) but its sooo slow to gain at least 0.1 skill

crafting v.c. would mean no profit on pandemonium..

    Re: Clothcraft 101

Okay now I reread through the whole thread here trying to get a handle on what I should do. I made like 6 stacks of rainbow thread... and then just now turned them all into 3 stacks of rainbow cloth. But now I'm kind of stumped as to what I should do. A stack of rainbow cloth is going for 2.6mil on my server atm. So my question is... can I just do jester's headbands to 81 then immediatly jump to arhat's hakama? Or do I need to use these rainbow cloths to make these rainbow headbands? If I can I'd rather just skip the rainbow headbands and sell off my cloth so I can then make the hakama's and push myself to 88. But I dunno if that is a good idea or not. Can I get your thoughts on it??

yeah, thats the the way i will go soon
crystals are mostly not a matter since i have mule full of them

only thing is, that i have to clean up my inventory to skill some cafts

but i`ll go another route, leather, bone, gold

    Re: Clothcraft 101

Sometimes it's a good idea to work on some other crafts.

Personally I've used Woodworking and Alchemy to finance my Clothcraft. I do this for 3 reasons

    1) So I don't get burned out looking at how much silk I am going to need to buy and hating Clothcraft for the rest of my life
    2) So I get a change of pace.
    3) So I have more options on what to sell to make gil. It's useless to just have Clothcraft skilled up and when your in need of some gil for the comming days you notice that the AH is overfilling with Clothcraft materials. Having other crafts leveled to a decent skill gives you more options on what you can sell at different times because the demand and suppy is constantly changing.

I choose alchemy and woodworking because the crystals were easy to farm during the farming of silk threads. Maze of Sha. is where I farmed my silk. I did it there so I could farm the wind and earth crystals used for woodworking and clothcraft at the same time. Lightning and Water crystals were mainly what I used for Alchemy if memory serves correct. Those are easy to farm as well. Qufim Island is a hot place for Lightning and Water is easilly found practically anywhere. Also both are good money makes for me.

Alchemy is pretty decent since you can either ....
    A) Fish for some of the materials
    B) Buy them.

Woodworking goes without saying, it's easy to buy the logs from the NPCs, not just from the Woodworking guild. As I mentioned before used somepage.com to find exactly where

    Hopes this helps

    well I litterally just dinged 61 in my cloth, so now I'm past field hose and have moved on to making silk headbands... though I'm still diggin' around to see if there is something I can make for profit. Not having any luck so far though ; ;

i don`t even know, but there are some post in this thread speaking about good "skill up" with some crafts..

my first try was 3 green ribbons with 0.1 skill up and 2 success lol

atm i have to spend all my gil in items, so i can`t try anything with skillin up

which level do you have now?

sweet.... deffinatly let us know how it goes. I've just been farmin' for money and buying (since I can get alot more silk that way then farming directly for silk) and then doing both the silk and the field hose. One thing i've noticed so far is that I seem to get a LOT faster skill-up on the field hose than the green ribbons. It takes me like an entire stack of silk cloths to get like +.2 skill.... but with that same ammount of synths I get almost a lvl. Is this a normal thing? And later on are there other things that will give better skill ups than other things?

sometimes i get out 3 silk from about 10 kills in rolandberry
    with rdm/blm, means no TH

and yeah, silk goes up to 50k+ since the update, some other stuff is almost sold out everywhere now too
i saved 1.8M to get my way to 62 (55 atm) but with silk thats not enough, so i decide to go another way.. maybe i try this week and tell you then if it works

That blows... maybe I'll try going back to making field hose. and then maybe try making wool doublets after that? Either way this stage of crafting blows
