Q. Why are you unable to do the Chocobo licence quest before the chocobo raising quest? Is this working as its supposed to be?

I only ask because Brutus gave me the quest and I'm unable to get the quest for the license until I have completed it. Seems a bit unfair that people with thier licence already can use chocobos to make thier way about on this quest and I am unable due to the fact I cannot get my license.

Well you need to be level 20 for a start to do the Chocobo Liscence quest, perhaps that's where the problem lies? Did you try asking the community here before making an 'Ask Sqare Enix' question, because that would be the way to go.

I should update my profile, I am 20mnk/10war now. So yes, I should be able to start the quest.

They probably just messed up the quest priorities when they implemented the chocobo breeding. I wonder if this affects the bst flag quest.....

Anyway, I suggest you use the feedback section in the POL viewer and maybe they'll rectify it. Probably won't do you any good if they do but at least it will be resolved for future players.

Its ok, I logged on today and it let me start the quest, seems you still have to take on the quest for chocobo breeding and wait a while before you talk to Brutus again. Still, seems wrong that you have to begin that quest before being able to get your license first.

Like was said before, the priorities are probably mixed up. Still might help to place a call through SE's help service to save future players some frustration.

So now i here we have to rasie a chocobo before we get the licence. Chocobo rasing sounds fun and all but it takes a month for it to grow up and for us to ride them. ughh thats not fair to the new pll, i just wanna ride them so i dont have to walk all over the damn place. Pluss i dont even know were to find a chocobo egg. Didnt see any one selling them at bastok markets.

It isn't unfair. If you just do a little bit of reading/asking around you'll find that you can get Chocobo eggs all over the damn place. There is a vendor in Ru Lude Gardens in Jeuno near the Auction House. Go there, get a cheap egg, start the quest.

You can still quest your licencse, so you have nothing to complain about.

You don't need to raise the chocobo before you can get your license. It's the other way around iirc. YOU need the license to raise a chocobo.

see? it doesn't prevent you, it just that the quest priorities are a bit messed up. just wait a while, zone, etc and you will get access to the choco license quest.

You don't need a liscense to raise a chocobo, just to ride the one you raised.

Correct, that's even in their update info. In order to start chocobo raising you have to have a chocobo license first. To get a chocobo license you have to do the quest for it, chocobo license is needed to do almost anything with chocobo's, unless you have that chocobo ticket or pass forgeting which of the two allow lv. 1's to ride a chocobo.

Anyway aside from that 1 item that allows lv. 1 players to ride a chocobo everything else requires you have a chocobo license and at least lv. 15 (Except for the quest to get the license which is 20).

What that guy was smoking when he told you otherwise had to be some really good stuff.

Interesting that this happened, probably is a glitch in quest priorities, I immediately flagged my pick of trials quest after starting the choco quest with Brutus the other day, no day change, no zoning, just talked to him a 2nd time. You don't actually have to do the quest with Brutus to turn in an egg either, it's just a neat storyline quest with an egg for effort. ^^

how is it unfair? by the time you hit 20 your in Jueno anyways and the chocobo riding quest is easy.

I think when he first posted, he thought he would have to completely raise a chocobo before he could go back and start the license quest. I think this is why he thought it was 'unfair'.
