  • How to funds goldsmithing above 50's ?

Hi everyone, taking goldsmithing up here and trying to reach the 70's... So far i spended around 1mil to reach lvl 50 and now its getting really slow and its burning all my gil away.. and i know, it will only get worse in the 60's.. I had some luck the last couple of days, got kraken club with 4 other ppl and we sold it for 60mil. Everyone got 15mil from this so me as well..

10mil left with a lvl 51 goldsmithing skill.. But what now o_o; I heard it takes much more then 10mil to reach 65-70..

Or does anyone have a really good method to lvl it up perhaps ?
    Talking about leveling 50-65's here..

Thanks, i hope to get some more information about this soon.

you raise another craft to 100 on a mule and use that to fund GS. I don't think there is any other sane way.

    Thanks Yyg!

The only SANE way to do goldsmith is to not do it. Seriously quit now. Not even joking. Level another guild like cloth that uses your goldsmithing as a subskill often so it doesn't go to a complete waste.

I don't mean to be blunt, but I'm just going to say it. You're a WAR75/NIN37 and if you cannot fund Goldsmithing during the 50s, you should just give up now and pick up another craft and forget Goldsmithing for a long time.

I have around 11mil to spend on it now and i know i can hit lvl 60 easy with that but the profit stage begins at lvl 70's... and that would take like 30mil so maybe its better if i just quit goldsmith for a while yeah.. My clothcraft skill is 25 and cooking skill 84 so like xuande said its maybe better to sub goldsmith for another craft.. But damm how are other ppl able to funds it It would take like 200mil to reach lvl 90 with it

Most of the level 95-100 goldsmiths probably did the bulk of their leveling before materials became so expensive, and before the massive inflation took place. The most well known goldsmiths probably are JP that have played since the game was released. They can sit back and get richer and richer now since they have already completed the leveling process, and have peace of mind that they will have very little competition at the top, since the road to get there is almost impossible.

-If you don't mind spending lots of time mining while you wait for your goldsmith items to sell
              -If don't level another job
-If you can actually show some restraint and not buy *any equipment* for your existing job should you find any lower level synths to profit off of.

Then maybe you can get somewhere with golsmithing in my opinion.
If you are at about 50'ish skill, depending on how patient you are you'll either blow that 10 mil getting 60 in a few days, or maybe get a few points further into 60 taking your time. Goldsmithing eats you alive and asks for seconds if you try to rush it the higher you go. I used to get about 1point a day in the 50's, now i'm content with getting a .1 every day. Higher up that will be a .1 per week or something... .

Like someone else said, everythings a loss when you are trying to skill up, unless you pull off a rare under skillcap hq, but guess what - you pat yourself on the back for making it, then sell it for skillup funds to cut your overall losses down. I've been losing 1mil per skill level for quite awhile, those 30k+ losses per synth add up fast.
I don't goldsmith to 'make money', I do it because its fun, its difficult and for my own sense of pride :p I view any 'profit' I make as just more money to fuel skilling up, not waste it on a kraken club or some other silly item.

There is only one keyword for goldsmithing i noticed these last weeks... The keyword is "Patience"

You look at the right synths and find one that almost breaks even... Patience is all you need till you reach lvl 65.

At lvl 65 you will lose alot of gil no matter what you synth so from there its a different story

i dont see why people say leveling a skill is so expensive. say u took 11 mil. there is no way youre gonna get to whatever lvl and not have gil. you get alot of what you spend back. and if you dont, you should be in a position to make gil to support you leveling with the crafting skills you already have. i am in the process of leveling GS on a mule that 28 now and i started her with 1 mil. i made 1 mil profit on top of getting my gil back already. just take your time and watch the price of materials.

well not all 75s are in HNM LS or have good ways of making gil. When 1 synth cost you 4 mil and not even guaranteed a skill gain, you know you will need serious income.

The stuff made in goldsmith, except ingots, are pretty slow to sell. You can spend all your money and have lots of items to sell back to recover the lost. But you might have to wait a whole month for them to eventually sell.

From what I heard, it takes 130mil to get from 60-100.

So far it's more or less true. @gs 60-70, it's taking about 2mil per skill, and you take in how it scales, it's over the hundred mark give or take(in this case a lot).
