Fixing Broken Rods, Help Please

Hey when fixing broken rods with light crystals, if you fail will you lose the rod? I hear you won't lose the rod no matter what when trying to repair it, but I just wanted to make sure it was true. Thank You in advance.

In the old days you would never lose the broken rod to a failed synth. Now you can lose the broken rod if you fail. Lu shang doesn't get lost by a failed synthesis.

But you can lose it if you have an animation cast on you before you start synthing... or synth while on the ship and zone... X3
