Sure there's a way to prove it helps, it says it in the gosh-darn text. :spin:

So you'd want to parse for hours to compare what happened? It's all somewhat random and we still don't know if anything else affects it like moon phase, etc. (or at least I don't know).

This probably has something to do with the skills such as Evasion and Accuracy which can't be seen and also, the extra slots in the skills and craft menu with no name attached to them are most likely just extra spaces added in case of new weapons being added into the game later, the developers don't have to waste their time adding more slots in.

The gear does not improve your chances of digging up the "rare" items directly. It reduced your chance of broken tools. How does this work? Take this example.

You go and buy 2 stacks of pickaxes. Trot yourself out to Yuhgott Grotto, and start mining. With no gear on, you pick, lets say, 18 mining points before the first 12 picks break. Lets say, just for the sake of argument, that you obtained 1 pebble from each point. That's all... 1 pebble. Your MNK will be happy now. He can throw something. 12 picks = 18 pebbles. (1:1.5 ratio)

Now, you throw on your "improves mining" gear and take your 2nd stack of pick, and start mining. Now, you are able to pick 24 points, before all 12 break. Again, assuming you obtained 1 pebble from each point, thats 12 picks = 24 pebbles. (1:2 ratio)

Just by looking at those "hypothetical" numbers, you can see right away that you had "improved results" with the gear, because you broke less often than you did without the gear.

These aren't like that Fishing Apron (i think its the apron) that "Reduced the chance of fishing up items". That would be an obvious improvement. Less Rusty "junk" and more fish... (duh?!)

if you look around BAT files there's lots of place holders everywhere. Those dots are probably place holders too.

transform a yellow spot into the sun.
