what everyone forgets is that this game does not offer a leveling playing feild.

    1. we all started with the jp players. we bought what they made. payed what they asked, as we all tried to get to where they were.. craft wise..

    2. ever have a pain in the ass time getting af help, geneki help, while someone with a good ls, or many friends gets full af before you see all of yours.

    3. ever watch the poorest equip guy get pt invites over an over while you get 0..

    4. the guy next to you has 24/7 to farm for what he has while you have 5 hours a day.. or he can go on hnm runs, while your going on bee chip runs..

    5. you farm, while someone else buys there gil..

since we activated our accounts, we have been at a disadvantage. either it be lack of time, or good comrades.
can we really argue what is fair, an what is not. should one quit the game because he cant devote his whole life to it?. should you quit because you cant afford $100 for 1 mil gil..

crafting equals the playing field. i started a crafting ls on my server. we have people in there that are lvl 60+ and only have 20k to their name and wearing full af. after they see how i rely on crafting to either sell to npc or put stuff on ah that sells fast, they start understanding on how it works.

also the higher lvls help out bigtime by hq-ing some of the ingredients for the lowerlvls at cost. that adds profit for the lower lvls and an economy where we depend on each other more then the ah when leveling. some people that joined the shell who have been crafting who started out with 20k now have close to 200k and are lvl 50 alchemy already. so i encourage people to go out and learn a craft.

also, its true that we started out at a disadvantage but on my server, there are a few jp shells that are recruiting that are looking for crafters. asking questions has shown that the jp are the same as us. most have started when rise of the zilart came out in japan about a month before we started plus they had a bunch of people retire around then as well.

I myself hated the idea of spending your RL money to buy fake money, but if people read and understand Kirk's post, that pretty much sums up both arguements. Whether we like it or not, that post makes sense. If the only arguement that people againts buying gil have over people spending real money to buy fake money is wrong and un-fair, I think that's just very one-sided. I used to think of it that way, but after being away from the game, for 1 full month (and counting still cause of me moving to a new house), you can realize a lot of things that's being tossed around here and there about this issue. Everyone has to realize that, whatever they do with their money is their own business. Everyone doesn't need to question why, cause that's how they want to spend their money.

Yea, I used to farm for hours to earn 10-30k. And yes I used to get pissed off to the idea that some people can just buy the damn gil instead of working their ass off like I have. But on the flip side, why am I spending hours of my life where I can just buy the gil that I'm working for?? But that also raises the question "why would I buy something that's not even real and since it's not real, I can just spend time getting it". Why get mad if you know their is another alternative for it? That's my own opinion.

We all buy a lot of things that are useless to us or even be considered a waste. So what makes them buying gil online any different from someone buying a shoe that they'll just use for certain occasions, or a game that they only touched once and never touch again? It doesn't. There is no difference. Again, that's what they want to use their money on, and they're entitled to that.

Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want with their money. Unless you like people telling you what to do with your own money. We make decisions for ourselves, and I just think we need to respect them with their decisions since they made that themselves, whatever the consequences are (whether good or bad).

Just my 2gil and 1 byne bill

as of yet (crosses fingers) i dont think anybody is upset over the issues. but on another lvl, i used to be the guy farming for hours starting out making 4 k then finding better things to farm and moving up to where i am now at about 50k constant to npc. or i can try my luck at the ah on desynths and pull enough to get by as well but not reliably. the same way that farming gives powers to the higher lvls so they can cut a bigger profit, buying gil puts real money in their hands and i choose not to be part of it. i dont think people who have more should be rewarded with actual money in a video game. thats just my 2 cents. also i make my stand with a few other linkshells that actually support crafters and help out people who dont have alot of time to farm or people who are lvl 60+ wearing all af gear with less then 30k gil to their name.

i have to agree with everyone on this.

I think that lazy people are flat out stupid. Buying 1mil of gil is ridiculous and outrageous. 1st, yes its a waste of money, and 2nd, because you can afford everything and throw your money around, you raise our already terrible economy.

But on other hand, i cant believe you guys hate people who buy gil so much. Not everyone buys 1mil + of gil. I bought 100k (lowest amount ige offers) to start fishing with and i benefited my friends too because we could ALL start fishing without killing our leveling time. that 100k only cost me 15$. Yeah, sure, that money could be used for other things, but what? food? How many of you are fat from playing ffxi?? you sit on your butt all day so that you can be someone in a fake world, who you'll never be in the real world. come on guys. Get a grip and leave people alone. How do you know that the people you play with online arnt buying gil?? you could be bashing some friend of yours that you play with.

I love earning my items too, but dont take your many hours, lost girlfriends, or bad grades out on someone who wants to spend a little of their hard earned cash to make their game more fun without destroying their real lives. I dont buy gil, but i dont destroy my life either. . . probebly why im only 18mnk/9war. lol

And if you have money, be like Biglos! do something good with it!

It's just a game! Dont forget the disclaimer.

I think Hakusama made a very interesting point. There is a big difference between spending $50 buying a couple hundred thousand gil to take the edge off the time needed to farm and spending $1500 to buy a kraken club.

The first is a sign that someone has a real life and has more things to do with their time than just game.

The second is a sign of addiction :dead:

                haha, lol kirk. XD

no worries. no addiction here ^_^

clothcrafting is surprisingly beneficial and i make good gil. i have no need to buy gil.

                lol:dead:

                  didn't read the whole thread

don't be yet another gil buyer -_- in one of my LSs a lot of the people have/do buy gil >< only 2 ppl in it (a drk and myself) have good gear gotten the hard way (i farmed it all, he camps stroper)
everyone complains about it, but i bet everyone here knows about 3 or more ppl who have/do/are about to purchase it

btw one kid (he is 14 O.o) spent 300 on 2 mil, $150/1 mil

                  fk yes

And this is why we should buy millions of gil to lvl crafting and get money so we dont have to worry about buying again.

There's other options of using it as well.
I know someone on my server.
Just not going to name him, better for his privacy since this people look like they like to kill gilbuyers O_o

Bought 10 million gil at IGE..
                              Invested in Leathercraft
Got it close to 100(like lvl95 I think)
Made profit with it, and lvld with it to 100
Took over half the Leathercraft economy on the server, made enough gil to get his RL cash back.
                              Is a happy person now.

You know, my respects to him, I shoulda have thought myself of that =/

It's funny that you should mention leathercraft since it's those people that buy all those damn archer's rings from the stupid gil sellers down in Ordelle's.
