elemental staffs help crafting results?

A "rumor" of sorts I heard from an ls-mate of mine. He's recently become a part of a high lvl LS on asura, and he told me that some crafters in this LS were talking about the hidden effects of elemental staffs, in that they help with crafting in some way.

Does anyone know anything about this?
