I've got a real mystery here.. <help me out!>

So last night I'm farming in batallia downs and I run across a mob named "tottering toby" I kill him and he drops these WRETCHED sandals.

So curious, i look them up online, and find out that they're selling for up to 20k on some servers and the buyers are primarily JPN, but no one has a definite use for them. I have no idea what they are or what they're used for. Have any of you heard of these things? I'm guessing they either have a hidden effect of they're used in the crafting of a better item. It's RUMORED that they're used to craft winged boots, but that's sheer speculation. I can't find a recipe ANYWHERE to back it up. I've been converting JPN websites all night, and I still can't find anything other than a level and a reference. No recipe, no explanation, no nothing.


What's the deal with these things?

I know one thing...they're NOT used to make Winged boots. Leaping Boots are used to make Winged boots.

some items have multiple recipes for crafting. I don't think it's used for winged boots, but then again, I still don't know.

I have also wondered why people bought them. I do not know of any recipe that they are used for. Never thought of them for Skilling up Guard and some other skills.

Ya its for skill up. I took it upon myself to ask a person who bought them ( happened to know them) and that was thier reply. That doesnt rule out crafting, but skill up is the MAIN reason for buying them. Also, maybe they can be Desynthed into something profitable?
